Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell is taking sides in the Mississippi Senate primary run-off, stepping out to help raise money for Sen. Thad Cochran, R-Miss., against his Tea Party challenger, Chris McDaniel.
McConnell will host a "run-off reception" benefiting Cochran, a six-term incumbent, on the evening of June 10 at the National Republican Senatorial Committee in Washington.
In an email to party donors Friday, obtained by the Washington Examiner, McConnell warned that the outcome of the contest "will have a very real impact on our fight for the Majority," even though Mississippi is considered a Republican stronghold.
"Our friend Thad is in a battle in the coming weeks that will have a very real impact on our fight for the Majority," McConnell wrote. "You have helped all of us in the past, and we need your help for him now."
"It is critical that he has financial resources now, and we are going to make sure he has them," McConnell continued. "... We have been in this situation before and all of us know well from experience, this is no time to sit on the sidelines."
Indeed, McConnell recently trounced a Tea Party challenger, Matt Bevin, on his own turf in Kentucky during a primary race last month, spending millions of dollars in the process.
But Cochran's situation is unique among Senate incumbents this year. Because Cochran fell short of 50 percent in the initial primary vote last week, the race with McDaniel will head to a run-off -- . . .

What a surprise
I remember winning the Senate during the Bush years. Trent Lott went on a morning show the next day and talked about conservative issues. Then the Bush people went ape and ran him right out of DC at the earliest opportunity. They only want yes people in their club.
Yes, I do like your idea.
What would be really great, would be for well-known conservative McDaniel supporters to join together to host an online “Run-off Reception” for McDaniel. (Like Sarah Palin, Mark Levin, TPX, etc.)
Have a set day (or days) to hold a MoneyBomb and an option to send Midge an email/notice, each time the donation is made for Chris McDaniel.
This is beyond low, for McConnell....the Minority *Leader* (cough) to be taking sides, in a party primary run-off, like this.
Funny, the RINOs don't do that.
We dont sit home and pout.
RINOs do worse than that, actively sabotaging conservative nominees from their own Party.
The objective is to win the senate.
For whom? If the RINOs are allying with Democrats against us, isn't it obvious that they will govern the same way? Why then earn the blame for the results because of a "Republican majority"? Didn't you see what happened in 2006 and 2008?
I think we should look at this on a case-by-case basis. McConnell has now shown himself to be so bad that he may need defeating, as his continued presence in the Senate could well be worse than an ineffectual idiot like Grimes. I don't want conservatives owning the blame for a RINOcrat government.
Our national debt has increased about $17,000,000,000,000.00 since Mitch and Thad have been in Washington. You’re doing a fine job boys.
Idiots doing to the same old thing should learn the expect the same old results.
Sounds like a plan. It worked for Murkowski.
Conservatism works every time it is tried, but you can’t convince the GOPe of that.
So, Mitch McConnell feels safe in Kentucky, and decides to support the establishment GOP against the true conservative Chris McDaniel.
Well, all of the following endorse Chris:
FreedomWorks
Tea Party Patriots
Gun Owners of America
Sarah Palin
Tea Party Express
The National Association for Gun Rights
Club for Growth
Eagle Forum
Young Americans for Liberty
Gary Bauer
Senate Conservative Fund
I hope it is enough.
McDaniel is precisely the kind of American we need in the U.S. Senate.
That is precisely why Karl Rove is on my shit list!

(I added Rick Santorum)
He is a sewer rat.
And if McDaniel wins it’ll be interesting how he and McConnell will get along together...assuming McConnell wins as well.
Here’s the deal.
If you are a democrat/liberal I won’t vote for you. If you are a republican/Rino I won’t vote for you. If you are a conservative, I will vote for you.
Rush’s replacement today was talking about how people say there was no difference between romney and zero. He believes that isn’t true, and we wouldn’t have obamacare if romney had been elected. Does he not know that romney is the father of obamacare?? Yes, the difference is that it is at the state not federal level, but still, the states are implementing obamacare anyway! The idiot governor of Ohio went along with it!
No more holding my nose to vote for the least worst person. If there is no conservative on the ballot, I am writing in the name of one.
I totally disagree -- voting for the Democrat would be an invisible act. For one thing, there'd be zero evidence that your Dem vote was a likely Republican vote gone south. For another thing, you'd still be voting for empowering leftism.
Writing in the name, or voting 3rd party even knowing the candidate will lose, not only registers soundly as a potential Republican vote gone south and deprives a liberal of a vote, but it REDUCES the mandate of whichever liberal, the Republican or the Democrat, wins.
Votes matter. Now, I only think in terms of what I am voting FOR. If that has to be voting FOR a plurality, where whichever liberal wins does so with less than 50%, that is a thousand times better than voting FOR increasing liberalism in both parties, which is what voting for liberal Republicans does.
Ping to my post 36!
Ping list ping.
I agree. Do not vote for leftists of either party

Mitch McConnell is worried that he would not have McDaniel’s vote for Leader (and, IMHO, he should be worried about that—particularly after this latest shot). And the duplicitous Mitch KNOWS that he would have the vote of the PUPPET Cochran—for anything he wants.
And I think the odds are even as to whether Mitch wins or loses this November.
