This is how stupid we've become: Does Obama do one stupid thing to cover for the other stupid thing? Does he do the stupid prisoner exchange to make up for the stupid carbon plan? Or is all the stupidity organic?
Getting past the fact that none of this makes anybody in United States look very good, I think these are legitimate questions.
Because it seems to me that Obama has waved the red meat, and the conservative lions have attacked.
The red meat in this case being the exchange of prisoner Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl for five Taliban terrorists.
CNN wasted 1800 words on the story todayin one article.
Everything above the fold at CNN.com is Bergdhal, gossip, Tea Party and trivia.
Not one story about Obamas plan to kill the coal industry, the power industry and manufacturing with his pen and his phone.
Not one story on the whole front page.
Harry Carrys drinking diary? Yep.
Two mentions of Flight 370.
The typical gay power article, the tragedy of 4,300 cars having hail damage, and a Kardashian sighting.
But carbon emmissions? Nope.
Fox News is barely better. Two mentions of carbon, below the fold, in font sizes too small to be seen by men and women aged 50-85.
As conservatives attack Obama for playing checkers, while Putin plays chess in foreign policy, Obama makes the right look foolish again at home.
Because whether Bergdahl was a deserter or not, the Department of Defense has a way of dealing with this.
Personally, Im glad hes coming home.
Was the deal good? I dont know. Its been a long time since I negotiated a prisoner exchange with the Taliban. Youre probably similarly situated.
Ill let the amateurs of the press Commentariat huff and puff about that.
What I do know, is that long after Bergdahl has been discharged by the military, more people will be affected by Obamas illegal plan to kill coal than any other story that has come out in the last month.
And I dont blame the press for writing about what sells.
I blame the rest of us for being too stupid to read what really matters.
As much as we on the right like to bash the press, the truth is that the press writes stories that resonate with their audience.
And until we find a porn video of Kim Kardashian doing unspeakable things in a coal mine-- which is highly probable-- the American public wont care about coal mines or coal miners at all.
It used to be in this country that we understood the relationship between cheap, reliable sources of energy and a vibrant economy.
But not anymore.
The Left is too busy yelling settled science! on every agenda they have, while the Right is too busy arguing with themselves regarding the minutiae of who is REALLY for amnesty or not.
Here are the only things you need to know: The amount of oil we import has dropped from 57 percent in 2008 to 34 percent in 2011 largely because of dirty old fossil fuels that private industry has producedover the objections of the Obama administration.
Without this new source of energy nothingNOTHINGwould look better. Our deficit would be higher, unemployment would be higher, manufacturing would be weaker, job creation more anemic.
So why kill off the old source of energy like coal?
Because without Obamas War on Coal, think of how much better our economy would look even including the Lefts stupidity on economics.
Its the economy, stupid.
And I cant believe I had to say that out loud.
Geesh.
Mission accomplished!
Thanks Kaslin. I was gonna post this earlier but I didn’t. Does make you wonder if this is a wag the dog moment though.
Everything the Current Regime is doing as official acts of the White Hut, is all a piece of the same tapestry. They have weaved this world of unicorns and rainbows, and imagined it to be some kind of new history.
The world they picture is no more real than Brigadoon or Finian’s Rainbow.
It could very well be a wag the dog moment
OTOH, swapping five bloodthirsty jihadist terror maniacs for one deserter who aided the enemy in killing Americans is something they can get a better handle on, especially when their phones ring in their home offices about it.
There are just two important constituent groups that dominate the electorate:
(1)Inner city, federally subsidized blacks who have been trained to rampage (or threaten it) at the nod from their representatives
(2)Outer city semi-subsidized white people who to judge from the Wal-Mart parking lot, average 325#, dress in rags, and are covered with hideous tattoos. (There actually might be a Third Group, normal people. Many of them might consider voting against the Democrats, but lately they rarely count for much, and are also getting dumber.)
This does not bode well for intellectual argument about politics. Barack Hussein Obama? Vox Populi, Vox Dei, pal. But just in case, they got massive vote fraud.
I take the point, but believe we have to fight them at every crossroads.
Whack a mole - it keeps THEM busy also
The main point of Ransom's essay is that Conservatives can't successfully challenge two things at once - “The Gitmo Release” and “The War on Coal.”
Since Ransom openly supports Obama on Bergdahl and Gitmo, my question is:
Are there any “Conservatives” we can still depend on to do ANYTHING?
Almost every nationally known Republican leader has completely given up fighting Obama and the Left.
Releasing 5 dangerous terrorists to go and kill more Americans is worth talking about. I think.
They get to DC and turn into whores
Likely and very plausible scenario during the coming tribulation.
I agree!!
I don;t buy this notion that we conservatives can’t be fighting more than one issue at a time.
