Tuesday on NewsMax TV, former U.S. Marine Corps Lt. Col. Oliver North said U.S. Army Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl was not a prisoner of war because he was actually being held "hostage" by the Haqqanis, a terrorist group separate from the Taliban and associated heavily with al Qaeda.
North said he knew there was at least a $1 million dollar ransom being demanded for Bergdahl some time ago so he estimated the price paid to release the hostage must be close to $5-6 million now.

I had read in an old story, 1 million was requested along with release of the Five, on the table Feb year ago, as well as withdrawal out of Afghanistan under Mullah Omar conditions; whereabouts not verified of present said foreign news story, runs a criminal enterprise, which if we paid, according North, would be a cime if use of taxpayer money; but all this is murky now. The first line of defense the regime has is to conduct itself in ways so outrageous that any true accounting of events will be decried as wild-eyed conspiracy theory, and thus be easily Alinsky'd . I really wish that a Congressional committee could put most of the White House and State Dept. staff on the witness stand, and ask them:
Was a ransom paid to the Taliban, the Haqqanis, or any other group of people in exchange for the release of Bergdahl?
Of course, the inquirer would have to expand the query so that "ransom" could mean anything of value: money, precious metal, gems, etc. to make sure no one could weasel their way out of answering the question truthfully.
Actually, it was the Haqqani. However, the description is correct: Brad Thor describes them as "80% Sopranos, 20% Al Queda".
