While some Republicans are so fed up with Washington, D.C., they simply will vote for change, many Republicans in the Delta will stick with the man who has done what senators and particularly Southern senators have always done: support programs and federal spending that help constituents.
Some even told me that if Cochran loses, they would vote in the fall for Childers, whose view of the role of government seems closer to Cochrans than does the libertarian McDaniels. You see, in the Delta, all politics remains local.

I will bet that neither candidate will get 50% and this will force a run-off on June 24th.
“I saw what the state and national GOP(e) did to Bret Schundler when he beat their favorite in the NJ governors primary in 01. The sitting pubbie governor endorsed the DIM. Who was McGreevey. “
This is a falsehood/lie/incorrect fact or all of the above.
Whitman breaks her silence, strongly endorses Schundler
http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/557782/posts
DiFrancesco: No endorsement; McGreevey leads Schundler by 18; Dems portray Schundler as a Terrorist

No third candidate is receiving any press, so it would have to be extremely close for the winner not to break 50%.
Memo for Mr. Rothenberg: there aren’t many Republicans in the Delta; that’s Bennie Thompson’s racially gerry-mandered Congressional district, and if you look at the county-by-country breakout in past presidential elections, the Delta is a blue bastion in an otherwise red state.
I’m guessing the reporter was able to get all those “Republicans in the Delta” around a small table in a Greenville restaurant, if not a booth at the local Hardee’s.
Democrats are going to vote for Thad today. The Cochran campaign has been pushing this. And the Palin and Santorum endorsements are motivating the militant democrats to do just that. It is hilarious to see democrats get so unhinged that they want to go vote for an old man who they have always opposed.
Bret got no support from the state GOP. Nor the national GOP.
And the lack of endorsement from the sitting GOP governor was as good as an endorsement for the dim.
The local media certainly played it that way. I was there.
The state GOP had their panties in a wad because *their* guy didn’t win. They took their toys and went home. Bret got no campaign support at all from them.
I merely said that your comment of “The sitting pubbie governor endorsed the DIM. Who was McGreevey.
that this is an incorrect fact or a lie or all of the above.
Furthermore, this governor was not elected. Whitman was selected to head EPA under Bush and this guy was serving out the last 11 months of her term. And Whitman did endorse Shunder.
whitman was not the sitting governor.
Blast from the past.
The whole ‘party unity’ if the opposing candidate wins the primary is only for conservative voters to support the libgop candidate. It’s never the other way around.
Read that article.
The entire NJ MSM talked of nothing else during that campaign season. I was there. Stated many times was the fact that little donnie failing to support Schundler was tacit approval of the dim candidate. I heard that every single night on the evening news. It was implied many many many times that donnie couldn’t, for the sake of his own political skin, actually come out and state support for the dim but that with holding his support from Bret amounted to the same thing.
And it did.
Party unity is only when they want the same conservatives they’ve ‘crushed’ and ‘destroyed’ to support them in the general election. It’s NEVER the other way around.

Another blast from the past.
“I blame DiFrancesco,” Santorelli said. “He didn’t stand with Bret. Our president stood with Bret. Giuliani stood with Bret. Our own governor didn’t lift a finger to help Bret.
“They say we Republicans have no party unity. Bret tried to unite Republicans. It’s a damn shame our own governor didn’t feel the same way. It’s a disgrace.”
Moreover, I distinctly remember a TV interview after the election where little donnie was asked who he’d voted for. He voted for McGreevey. I can’t find that online though. I’m not the only one who remembers it however.
So yes. The GOPe would rather the dims win than the conservatives. The dims are less likely, especially in the case of crook donnie T, to pull their corrupt little hands and those of their cronies out of the till. And the GOPe is all about crony hands in the till...
“as long as mcdaniel plays it safe, runs out the clock and doesnt pull a mourdock, he should defeat childers in the general”
It appears to me the worry would be if Cochran wins today. Haley Barbour and the rest of the old geezer’s handlers will have to keep duct tape over Cochran’s mouth to keep him from coming out with another pro-ObummerCare statement, or similarly asinine remark.
I think McDaniel will do just fine in handling himself.
And Whitman only supported him 4 weeks before the election.
Why’d she wait so long?
Bush had already announced his support.
So had Cheney.
And Guiliani.
Why’d Christie Todd wait so long? She wasn’t even in NJ anymore? Probably because of all those rich crooked cronies that had elected her to begin with.
And the fact that Schundler was pro-life and Christie is nothing if not a baby killin’ groupie of Planned Barrenhood. That she endorsed him at all makes me wonder if Bush didn’t give her a talking to about it.
You said “I saw what the state and national GOP(e) did to Bret Schundler “
And now you say that Bush, Cheney and Guiliani were on Shundler’s side from early on.
How can you claim that the national GOPe was opposed to Schunder ?
He got very little money from them.
None of the coordinated support you’d expect.
You were the one who thought Whitman was the sitting governor.
The sitting GOP governor voted for the dim.
The GOPe is all about corruption and baby killing. Threaten to eliminate either of those and they bring out the long knives.
And instead of making the false statement of
“sitting republican governor endorsed the dim”
Why don’t you tell the truth and say
“sitting republican governor lack of endorsement helps dim”
or
“Whitman’s late endorsement helps dim”
But no, you insist on telling the lie and then you try to defend the lie as “sort of like the truth”.
Just state the truth please.
The sitting GOPe governor VOTED for the dim.
Which part of that sentence is difficult to understand?
How many times are conservatives berated on this VERY board that unless we support whatever GOPe liberal dreck is running that we’ve elected the democrat?
How many times?
And yet when the sitting GOPe governor of the state of NJ not only failed to endorse the conservative candidate, but actually VOTED for the DIM, that’s OK or something?
How is failing to endorse, when you’re in the governor’s seat, anything but blatant support for the dim?
We’ve been told that many many many times. If you fail to lap up all the liberal dreck for McCainRomneyJeb, you’re as good as electing the dim? Hmmm?
Where was the GOPe ‘party unity’ when DiFrancesco failed to open his mouth and just mouth basic support for the primary winner?
Did you or anyone else thing that would be interpreted ANY other way?
Donnie VOTED for the dim. Why would he endorse Schundler?
As to WHY Donnie voted for the dim, read this book:
http://www.thesopranostate.com/
And why’d it take Christie Todd 4 months to endorse Schundler? According to the GOPe ‘party unity’ trolls that endorsement should have been IMMEDIATE. But it was NOT. Did Christie really vote for the dim too? Betchayourbippy her lib children did. Baby killing uber alles for Christie Todd and her kin.
You know Childers too? My family and I have known him for forty years..
I’ve done a bit of asking around. It’s a shame.
It’s uniparty uber alles.
We voted absentee a few weeks ago. From what I’ve seen lately I believe Senator McDaniel will win, I posted the following on another thread.
“Last week Senator Wicker spoke to our local Republican Club. I had hoped it would be about todays issues and how he would stand with Conservatives and help stop or undo what Obama and his minions are doing and have done to our country but as I suspected it was a rally for Senator Cochran. When he delivered the applause lines only a quarter of the group applauded, they were those working in Cochrans behalf, including the high school campaign workers and those with Senator Wicker. Most in attendance didnt respond to the applause lines. The last poll I saw showed a 46% tie. With the McDaniel supporters cranked up and pissed off I believe McDaniel will carry Desoto County and win. Of course Ive been wrong before, possibly its because of who I associate with. I hope Senator Wicker is in the same position as Thad at this point in his next primary, tied in the polls to a REAL Conservative with a fired up base of support.”
