Captain Floyd James Thompson, U S Army was captured in 1963 and released in 1973. He spent 9 years as a POW of the North Vietnamese. Are you saying that he should not have been promoted during those nine years? Perhaps they should have withheld his pay, and charged him for all the excess leave.
The real crime here is not that Bergdahl was promoted. It is that the U. S. Government will not hold him accountable for his actions before and after his capture. Rescorla would have understood that as would many of his fellow combat infantrymen, including me.
The senate makes its’ own rules.
