PORTLAND, Ore. To Republicans, the Senate race in this solidly Democratic state presents an alluring opportunity. Oregons health insurance exchange has been one of the countrys most troubled. President Obamas approval rating has fallen below 50 percent. Sen. Jeff Merkley, a liberal Democrat first elected on Obamas coattails in 2008, is not terribly well known.
And in Monica Wehby, Republicans have a fresh-faced, female challenger who they believe matches the moment: a pediatric neurosurgeon and political outsider who rails against the Affordable Care Act but is relatively moderate on social issues.
Republicans dont need Oregon in order to win back the Senate this year. But they do need to make inroads in blue states such as this one to compete for the White House in 2016. To expand its reach beyond older white men in the Deep South and the Midwest, the GOP must persuade voters to switch sides for candidates like Wehby.
Unless we conservatives learn how to compete and start winning in swing and blue states, we will never govern America, said Mike Murphy, a veteran Republican strategist.
Mathematically, Republicans can pick up the six seats they need to gain control of the Senate by winning only in states that GOP presidential nominee Mitt Romney carried in 2012. Still, they are trying to expand the playing field to include seven states Obama won: Colorado, Iowa, Michigan, Minnesota, New Hampshire, Oregon and Virginia.

RE: This is the one who was accused of stalking ex-boyfriends?
ONE ex-boyfriend ( don’t know what you use the plural ).
The story, first reported by Politico early Friday morning, revealed that timber executive Andrew Miller in April of 2013 had called police after Wehby had made several unwanted visits to his home after he had broken up with her. He accused her of “stalking” him and “harassing” his employees and said he would get a stalking order against Wehby, which he didn’t do.
Miller, who later helped Wehby on her campaign, told Politico that he now regrets calling police, and Wehby said in a statement that there “really wasn’t much” to the story.
But the Politico story rocketed around the web and was picked up by news outlets around Oregon as well as the rest of the country.
So, there you go...

She’s pro-choice (pro-abortion) and is fine with homosexual “marriage”.

I didn't endorse her opposition. It is possible to be opposed to all parties in a particular race.
/johnny
I thought it said Dr. Marcus Welby until I saw her picture.
/johnny
That is a BIG TIME ERROR, LIE, MISTATEMENT, SLANDER OR ALL OF THE ABOVE.
That is a BIG TIME ERROR, LIE, MISTATEMENT, SLANDER OR ALL OF THE ABOVE.
She said that repealing Obamacare is 'unrealistic'.
She's made conflicting statements on amnesty but it looks like she wants to let the invaders stay.
/johnny
“She said that repealing Obamacare is ‘unrealistic’.”
YOU DISGUST ME. YOU TAKE A FEW WORDS OUT OF CONTEXT.
WHAT SHE SAID WAS
“Wehby was specifically asked if she would repeal Obamacare if elected.
Thats not politically viable at this point, Wehby answered. We cant get it repealed with Obama in office.”
/johnny
I’d rather see quotes that substantiate those claims. I don’t trust someone else’s synopsis of what a candidate has said.
It's happened before and, given some of Wehby's positions, could happen again. You wanna risk it, go ahead. I don't.
She is a lightweight who will be destroyed in a debate with Merkley (d). The Salem, Oregon liberal (Gannett) newspaper wouldn’t endorse her against her conservative opponent, saying she was surprisingly ignorant on issues other than health care. Looking at her website shows no depth of knowledge on the issues. We had a good candidate, but the Republican power machine gave us a bad candidate.
“She’s got her own version of socialized medicine she wants to substitute.”
Then quit lying and saying she supports Obamacare, WHICH SHE DOES NOT.
/johnny
/johnny
Eventually, even the GOP-E will figure out that running a liberal is a political kiss of death.

Shes pro-choice (pro-abortion) and is fine with homosexual marriage.

The question becomes at this stage do you dump her and support the democrat,
Libertarian, Independent or the unaffiliated candidate. That is where we are
at this stage in the Oregon process. It is one of them as the primary is passed.
