Donald Sterling, embattled owner of the Clippers, has kept a rather low profile since racial comments he made first became public.
Sunday morning, he raised eyebrows when he showed up to attend church services at a predominately black church in South Los Angeles.
KCAL9'ss Adrianna Weingold spoke to members of the congregation who were a little unsure about Sterlings visit.
With the choir singing, Donald Sterling walked into the Praises of Zion Baptist Church on S. San Pedro Street. Senior Pastor J. Benjamin Harwick welcomed Sterling publicly during the service.
Stand up brother Sterling, were going to give you a round of applause, Hardwick said.
The pastor of 58 years told Weingold off-camera that he didnt invite Sterling to attend the services. He says Sterling approached him.

RE: I am just curious, was he there for absolution for racial comments or adultery??
Reading the entire article...
I could be wrong, but I personally think that with his age and Alzheimer’s onset, the man knows that he’s not long for this world and he can’t take his money with him. Therefore, he is seeking absolution.
A realization of your mortality can suddenly bring some humility...
But to the cynics out there... yes, I might be wrong.
How about a little walkin around money for the Rev!
Well, at least it’s going to a fresh face. Getting tired of seeing Sharpton and Jackson get all play and all the pay.
Good to see old Sterling is spreading the wealth.
I bet even some of Sterling’s friends are black.
Sterling actually pays his black players and coach of the L.A. Clippers quite handsomely.
And the stones are cast.
Because Jews attend services at black Pentecostal churches all the time...
You have to understand what's happening here.
The black pastor was not thrilled this guy showed up, so.... he pointed him out. The applause, I'm sure, was very golf-tournament-like, and there was a genuine risk of boos. Also, all the congregation, having been made aware of Sterling's presence, could shoot Sterling death-glares and avoid being near him, so he'd feel even more awkward.
He said he’s Jewish.....what’s he doing at a church??
RE: He said hes Jewish.....whats he doing at a church??
A Jew can be seeking for the real Messiah too...
RE: The black pastor was not thrilled this guy showed up, so.... he pointed him out.
Actually, Sterling came ON THE INVITATION of the Pastor.
