Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl was released by the Taliban yesterday in a prisoner swap.
Bergdahl was the only living POW held by the Taliban. He was captured by the Taliban in 2009 in Afghanistan.
Before he deserted his platoon Bergdahl Bowe Bergdahl wrote this to his parents:
“I am sorry for everything here,” he wrote. “These people need help, yet what they get is the most conceited country in the world telling them that they are nothing and that they are stupid.”
Bergdahl also complained about fellow soldiers. The battalion commander was a “conceited old fool,” he said, and the only “decent” sergeants, planning to leave the platoon “as soon as they can,” told the privates — Bergdahl then among them — “to do the same.”
“I am ashamed to be an American. And the title of US soldier is just the lie of fools,” he concluded. “I am sorry for everything. The horror that is America is disgusting.”

He ran off to join the Taliban. Became a “willful hostage” for five years, while he was permitted to walk free among them. And now he’s getting a juicy promotion and being turned into a hero. The old WW II generals are turning over in their graves, they would have had him put in front of the firing squad as soon as they regained custody of him.
Why stop at Staff Sergeant? Why not go all the way to the top? /s
Times have really changed..At one time the deserter would have been facing a court martial..now they are promoted.

Of course...just a continuation of the us v. them mindset.
I could possibly see a couple of SGTs and experienced types showing concern to the ‘War’ when it comes to the ROE that they were restricted with.
The ‘worst’ part of this - with his units ‘suspicions’ that he had just ‘walked away’ and now just coming up can be played to look like ‘sour grapes’.
Like ‘they’ got on us for not saying anything about Jf’nKerry till he put in his bid for pResident.
We had no ‘control’ or say over MA Politics and the fact they kept sending the same retread Kennedys back kind of proved Jf’nK was their ‘kind of guy’.
I was trying to hold sort of an ‘open mind’ on this guy but the actions of his father have gotten me to think that what these dissenters are NOW saying may have a good ring of truth to it.
Think the US Army would have ‘learned’ in regards to Jessica Lynch but they are treating this guy like a hero and promoting him WITH the ‘cloud’ over his head.
When you add all things up, just another poke in the eye with a sharp stick to the ‘good guys’.....
He’ll be discharged shortly I’m pretty sure and the didots will probably give him back pay at the Staff Sargent scale as well. Just rewarding bad (traitorous) behavior. EVERYBODY gets a trophy. Heck at this rate the lyin’king won’t need to do much work in reducing our armed forces. Early outs for a lot of people.

Just as an aside, I was there, in the unit, full-time, and I STILL had 33 months in grade awaiting promotion from E-3 to E-4. That all went away at separation.
The people who voted for this bass-turd are disgusting; so many white guilted morons. It has nothing to do with his skin, it is the fact that he is a monster, commie, and his hate for the US knows no limits.
Meanwhile, 1LT Clint Lorance is sent up for 20 years for killing Taliban motorcyclists attacking his patrol.

How long before we hear about another ‘work place’ killing?
The ultimate insult to the 6 soldiers who died searching for his sorry butt and the American people.
He’s ashamed to be a soldier but he’ll accept a promotion and back pay.
How much more will the people take? If I was in the military I’d quit! I wish everyone would just walk off the job. One big mass mutiny.
This morning, John Carlson interviewed Bryan Suits on KVI radio. Although Bryan no longer comments on KVI, the decorated veteran is their go-to-guy for the military perspective.
Bryan noted that many U.S. Army Korean War defectors became dissillusioned with their communist experience and returned home. There, they were prosecuted and suffered punishment for their actions.
Bryan said there was an "expectation" among our military that Sgt. Bergdahl would also be prosecuted.
I'm sure if they were printed on soft paper, President Obama would love to wipe his rear with our military's expectations.
