KABUL (Reuters) - The release of five Taliban prisoners in exchange for a U.S. soldier has drawn criticism from some Afghans, who say the detainees are dangerous and will rekindle ties with terrorist networks to resume fighting, just as most foreign troops leave.
The men had been held at the U.S. naval base at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba since 2002 and were classed by the Pentagon as "high-risk" and "likely to pose a threat".
Two are also implicated in the murder of thousands of minority Shi'ite Muslims in Afghanistan, according to the U.S. military.
They were released in a swap with U.S. army sergeant Bowe Bergdahl, the sole American prisoner of war held in Afghanistan who was flown to a U.S. military hospital in Germany on Sunday.
"They will definitely go back to fight, if health-wise they are able to go," said a top official at Afghanistan's spy agency, who asked to remain anonymous because of the sensitivity of the topic.
"They will be very dangerous people, because they have connections with regional and international terror organizations around the world."

With ICE dumping hundreds of OTM illegals around the country and released these Taliban thugs without consent from congress....they are able to regroup now so keep your powder dry and weapons handy...Obama has loosed the hounds of war wittingly or unwittingly...he, Obama has truly put his fellow citizens in harms way. Everyone (except his apologists) agrees he should be impeached...but since he is Arab and Negro and this nation is on Politically Correct Death Watch...this community organizer will and is getting away with crimes against his country.
I would think that this is not a helpful situation for those Afghanis who supported the US initiative. They’ll still be there when we leave. They’ll have to deal with a Taliban the Obama administration has even further empowered and legitimatized with this maneuver.
So...he saved one, got headlines and in his simple mind it’s all good.
Every father of deployed soldiers just made ‘a’ list and, when casualties are cross-linked, they make ‘the’ list.
I wouldn’t be surprised a bit if by this time next year we’re hearing stories of families of AF-theater casualties being subjected to ‘unusual scrutiny’...

No judge would ever hear the case. But then again if 10 or 20 million walked into Washington with a letter for the fools on the hill, something might give. With the state of the average low info voter, that is not likely to happen. Everyone has a life. We are busy trying to put bread on the table while our elected representatives spend us into oblivion, care more for illegal tresspassers than tax-paying citizens, and refuse to follow the constitution. We are doomed. Sell everything and go to..........never mind, it will be a carbon copy of our travails wherever you go. Stay here and never give up.
Will Obama be posing with the families of the men who were killed or had life altering wounds in the operations to capture those Taliban or the operations to find this soldier who walked away from his comrades unarmed?
