President Obama warned Friday that storms like Hurricane Sandy will become more frequent as climate change intensifies.
While being briefed by emergency response officials at the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) headquarters, Obama urged the public to prepare now for this year's hurricane season.
"The changes were seeing in our climate means that, unfortunately, storms like Sandy could end up being more common and more devastating," Obama said.
"And thats why were also going to be doing more to deal with the dangers of carbon pollution that help to cause this climate change and global warming. And thats why were also, with the terrific help of these departments, thinking of how we can build more resilient infrastructure," he added.
The administration is preparing to unveil Obama's signature climate change regulation Monday, which will limit carbon emissions from coal-fired power plants.
After leaving FEMA headquarters, Obama visited the Children's National Medical Center, according to a White House pool report.
There Obama met with children who are being treated for asthma, an illness aggravated by air pollution, a White House official said.
Obama is at the hospital to tape his weekly address, which will focus on the forthcoming carbon pollution rule.
I really don’t appreciate your language when referring to Obama. Well, just that “president” part.

Global Warming on Free Republic
When Ike made landfall it was as a Category 2, but with a large storm surge. No Category 3 hurricane has hit the United States since Katrina in 2005.
We were right in the middle of Ike and are still repairing odds and ends so many years later. It doesn’t really matter whether it was a Cat 2 or Cat 3. I will never ever forget the unrelenting howl of the wind.
I’m not suggesting it wasn’t bad. I’m truly sorry for what you have endured. I’m simply saying Obama is a scaremongering politician whose rant is not supported by the facts.
BO is truly a Henny Penny as are most of the liberals, particularly regarding issues over which they have absolutely no control but think they can affect the outcome.
It’s amazing the number of people who choose to live on the Gulf but then complain when we have a hurricane. It comes with the territory. I will have to say that Ike created way more shovel ready jobs in one day than BO has in his entire political career.
