BOMBSHELL! SENATOR TED CRUZ SAYS THAT US SENATE VOTE WILL NEUTRALIZE FIRST AMENDMENT (VIDEO)

OBAMA’S REICHSTAG FIRE MOMENT TAKES THE STAGE

Sen. Ted Cruz dropped a bombshell, as you will see in this video, where he emphatically states that the United States Senate this year will vote on a Constitutional amendment to effectively repeal the First Amendment. This is Senate Joint Resolution 19 that Se. Cruz is referring to. It proposes an amendment to the Constitution of the United States relating to contributions and expenditures intended to affect elections.

Cruz: Obama To Repeal The First Amendment from Now The End Begins on Vimeo.

This vote will give the Congress the plenary power and unlimited authority to regulate political speech. The door that they plan on using revolves around campaign finance reform, but will extend to all areas of political speech across the board.

“When you think it can’t get any worse, it does,” Cruz said. “This year, I’m sorry to tell you, the United States Senate is going to be voting on a constitutional amendment to repeal the First Amendment.”

“I am telling you — I am not making this up. Sen. Chuck Schumer (D-NY) has announced the Senate Democrats are scheduling a vote on a constitutional amendment to give Congress the authority to regulate political speech because elected officials have decided they don’t like it when the citizenry has the temerity to criticize what they’ve done,” he added.

The point he was making, and it was quite clear to me, is that the Democrats in the Senate are beginning the process of attempting to amend the Constitution.

"What we wish, that we readily believe".

“What a man wishes he generally believes to be true”.

An objective observation of the given video seems to be innocuous to me.

So unless Reid is working with House RINO "leadership" on a bill to limit 1st Amendment protected speech, I don't know why Cruz seemed to be sounding alarm about a Senate vote.

41 senators want to repeal the First, and you don't find that alarming?

I find it something to be significantly pissed off about, even if it has no chance of ratification.

The constitution has already been shredded. McCain Feingold was a blow to the first amendment. You have countless 2nd amendment violations every single day. The 4th. AHAHAHAHAHA. Thanks for the laugh on that one. 5th 6th all the bill of rights vaporized. What’s one more on more illegal unconstitutional law on the first amendment? Of course any law coming out of congress will exempt themselves, unions, and lobbyists. Heck, Obama’s internet czars already want mandatory internet IDs, as if that mattered with the NSA recording everything in the digital world.

the Constitution. It's not a difficult document, unless you let a lawyer read it.

LOL!

"... the Democrats in the Senate are beginning the process of attempting to amend the Constitution."

I had a look at the video again. "Shock jock" Cruz's first statement wrongly gives the impression that the Senate can act unilaterally to amend the Constitution imo, Cruz said to repeal the 1st Amendment. He didn't even bother to cover his arse by using word "effectively" in conjunction with repeal 1A in first statement.

Since only the states have the constitutional authority to ratify proposed amendments to the Constitution, Cruz is politicking imo, making a lasting impression as a Paul Revere, but also knowing that people will probably not remember video by 2016.

I don’t think I’ve ever read a post of yours I disagreed with until now. They pull this off and we should have a war, taking out those who foisted this on us first. No mercy.

What Senator Cruz discusses in the video is a proposal, backed by 41 'Rat senators, to amend the Constitution and thereby bypass the Supreme Court ruling. The idea being that not only your heart bypass but political speech shall be as the Secretary shall determine.

In order to become part of the Constitution, the proposed amendment would have to pass by a two-thirds majority in both the Senate and the House and be ratified by three fourths of the States' legislatures.

So, yeah. Not going to happen. But it's the thought that counts!

I think you’re right. Ted Cruz is throwing bombs trying to imply that good and honorable U.S. senators have bad intentions. There’s just no place for that kind of mud slinging in politics.

Ted Cruz introduced convincing evidence that 41 of the 100 are evil.

IMO, Cruz wasn’t talking about a bill to actually change the First Amendment.

He is saying that Shumer’s bill relative to campaign finance reform will contain limitations on political speech, which would be a violation of the Freedom of Speech.
**********************************
I’m with you on this. I see it as a warning from Cruz that a stealth attack on the 1st Amendment will be disguised as “campaign finance reform.”

Cruz could have chosen his words more carefully, but then again, if he had stated it as succinctly as you just did, would we even be having this conversation? Probably not.

The stealth attack that I hear Cruz warning us about seems similar to how the 2nd Amendment is being attacked indirectly by every conceivable trick possible (ban on high-capacity magazines, IRS harassment of gun dealers, fed hoarding of ammo, etc.).

BTW, I can’t believe that no one replied to your response. It was a good one that is worthy of some conversation. (Must be all that good ol’ Texas blood coursing through your veins.;-)

The Constitution's Article V indicates that amendments to the Constitution actually have to be ratified by 3/4 of the states.

For someone who sets themselves up as some sort of expert on the Constitution, your knowledge is sorely lacking.

There is another path to amending the Constitution where both houses of Congress have to approve an amendment by 2/3's majority.

I think I'll take Senator Cruz's knowledge and understanding of the constitution over yours.

Stuff your disappointment.

And after that vote, THEN it is sent to the states for ratification.

IMO, Cruz wasn’t talking about a bill to actually change the First Amendment.

There is no such a thing as a bill to change the First Amendment. The only way the First Amendment can be changed is by ratifying a superseding amendment.

He is saying that Shumer’s bill relative to campaign finance reform will contain limitations on political speech, which would be a violation of the Freedom of Speech.

Upchuck's bill is not a normal bill. A normal bill to do what he wants would be unconstitutional. So, Chuckie proposes to fix that problem in the only way possible: by amending the Constitution. Apparently, 41 senators, including Dingy Harry, have signed on. That is what Cruz addresses in the video.

I think most commenters on this thread just saw the reference to an Amendment and misunderstood what Cruz meant.

No, that's exactly what Cruz meant! An amendment to the Constitution to give the Secretary of whatever the same power over your political speech that she has over your heart bypass surgery! After all, what do you know? You're not an expert!

Fortunately, the requirements to amend the Constitution are steep. But it's the thought that counts! We know who the traitors are!

Good news is we all have guns and no idea what to do with them.

Bad news is the Feds are buying up all the ammo and there's none left for us to buy.
