There is more there than you think. I work and live in the flight path and we get occasional very large aircraft landing there.
My wife and I were hanging out outside the fence waiting to watch a plane take off and we I saw a 747 parked down there (not Air Force One)
I work in a trailer off of a main building, and I am only one of a handful of people who have a real, honest to goodness window I can actually open to the air.
I used to work in military aviation so my face is constantly to the sky when I hear planes. Military stuff sounds so different from commercial stuff.
I saw a few planes fly over that were variants of 707s, (possibly JSTARS) I have seen KC-135s, and I recall seeing a B-52 land there.
Just yesterday, something really big came in low, and I didn’t catch a sight of it.
I love living around planes.
Perfect weather and a long runway - very unusual location for an accident with these conditions....
I haven’t seen or heard anything unusual, no odd flight paths.
It's disgusting and outrageous.

This appears to be the aircraft involved: http://flightaware.com/live/flight/N121JM
N121JM, scheduled to fly to Atlantic City and then to Wilmington, DE later tonight.
I posted this a few minutes ago but then asked the mods to delete my post because I wasn’t sure I was right - but it appears to be confirmed at this point.
I sit outside at night and watch the show for hours of relaxation. I've taught my son the sound of all the different planes. The high and low pitch of the 727's, and the steady drone of the A360's and A320's. They are stacked and spaced as far as you can see.
A lot of C-5's have been getting their crews current on night and instrument currency requirements lately as well. That tells me something military is going down soon. No C-130's. Just the monsters.
US Air and Delta fly out of National and BWI every effin hour.
I didn’t even mention the private airline run by the US Justice Department. Hundreds of executive jets.

Aircraft registration address matches a law firm in Raleigh NC - might be the registered agent for the owner...
Dang, you get to see and hear aircraft before anyone else, anywhere.
Company officials are listed as Lewis Katz and Emil Solimine.
Katz, a former owner of the New Jersey Nets, recently won control of the Philadelphia Inquirer newspaper.
Solimine appears to be an insurance executive.
Of course there's no way to know whether either was on the airplane at the time - it's entirely possible that the aircraft is an investment that gets leased out regularly, or that other associates were using it, or even that it was an (empty) repositioning flight to pick up other passengers.

Plane crashes, catches fire at Hanscom Field
A plane headed to Atlantic City crashed on take-off and burst into flames at Hanscom Field in Bedford tonight, the Federal Aviation Administration said.
The Gulfstream IV twin-jet plane apparently ran off Runway 11 at 9:40 p.m. and caught fire, the FAA said. Massachusetts Port Authority spokesman Richard Walsh said it was a private plane.
Flames could be seen from Route 128.
There was no word on any injuries. Massport has scheduled a media briefing for 11:25 p.m. at Hanscom Field.
The FAA said it didnt know how many people were on board, which was headed to Atlantic City International Airport in New Jersey.
Walsh said Massport had no information on the condition of the crew or passengers or the cause of the incident.
Massport emergency personnel were responding to the scene. Hanscom Field is now closed.
The FAA said it, along with the NTSB, are investigating the crash.
