THE HUNTLEY-BRINKLEY REPORT

Before it became “The NBC Nightly News”, it was “The Huntley-Brinkley Report”, and its signature closing was, “Good night, Chet. Good night, David.” It became the butt of late-night comics’ jokes, although without a gay connotation. (Such things were not thought of in those days, much less spoken of.)

The network went with Beethoven as the theme, using a fragment of the second movement, the Scherzo, of the Ninth Symphony

Theme from “The Huntley-Brinkley Report”

Thanks, Publius, for going the extra mile while sitting on the floor with your computer on a crate to provide music for the troops. ((HUGS))
