Talk about a picky eater. Sister Darlena was feeding the Camp Crew with cold cuts at noon, so I asked Mike his preference between Ham, Turkey or Bologna. He asked for wheat bread (with crusts trimmed), a slice of Bologna, a layer of ketchup (which I had to go dig out of the fridge), a layer of cheese and then another slice of Bologna. Darlena told me to give him what he wanted, so I dutifully created his request, which he ended up taking 3/4's home with him. He was more interested with playing and exploring a real Church Camp.
He attended "Church Camp" last summer, but it was pretend with classrooms for cabins and only two hours each night. They had a fake campfire in the sanctuary which he described in detail: "
It lit up and had a red sheet flowing up from a fan with fake rocks." I told him we stayed in cabins all week, showed him the swimming pool, Chapel and amphitheater and I showed him pictures of our real campfire.

Camp Jerry - June 2013
I told him about last year's "snipe hunt", our midnight hike across the mountain to the glade to see the full moon and pray, our water balloon fights with the girl's cabins, our camp "ghost", flashlight tag and dozens of other activities. I'm so sorry he won't be able to attend our camp this year in mid-June, but the next hearing is not until June 27 and full custody is farther away than that (if at all). If I can get my recovery moving, I'm likely to be a cabin councilor with 10 boys this year! So far though, he's wearing me out in just 4 hours a week - I can't believe I'll be herding 10 boys 24/7 in just a few weeks!
We both had a really great time today. Thank you Kathy for all you've done to make these visits possible. I probably shouldn't post it publically just in case I'm being "stalked", but today he told me that he told Ms. Dixon (his new Guardian ad litem) that he wants to come live with me. He melts my heart.
