... What is needed from Washington is not a heroic exertion of American military power but rather a sustained effort to engage with allies, isolate enemies, support free markets and democratic values and push these positive trends forward. The Obama administration is, in fact, deeply internationalist building on alliances in Europe and Asia, working with institutions such as the International Monetary Fund and the United Nations, isolating adversaries and strengthening the global order that has proved so beneficial to the United States and the world since 1945.
... A Democratic Advisory Council committee headed by Acheson called Eisenhowers foreign policy weak, vacillating, and tardy. But Eisenhower kept his powder dry, confident that force was not the only way to show strength. Ill tell you what leadership is, he told his speechwriter. Its persuasion and conciliation and education and patience . Its long, slow, tough work. Thats the only kind of leadership I know or believe in or will practice.
Maybe thats the Obama Doctrine.

A Muzzie applauding another Muzzie - STFU!
Never heard of Fareed Zakaria.
Is he a USA citizen?
This guy is such a power tool. He’s pathetic.
The WAPO is continuing to flog Obama’s Strawmen from his WP speech.
It’s disgusting and infuriating how these dolts kiss this man’s ring.
the enemy within... writes lies like this ... and we wind up having to respond to them...
meanwhile, they’re busy promulgating more lies.
the Nazis proved in WW2 that their Big Lie technique works to control large populations ... and so they’re continuing it today
just look at the key premise of this article,
quote: “ a sustained effort to engage with allies, isolate enemies, support free markets and democratic values “
to engage with allies....by stabbing them in the back?
to isolate enemies....to make it easier to give them more weapons, money, and training how to attack and kill innocent Christians and Jews?
to support free markets — where is that? certainly not in USA, where they’ve nationalized 1/6 of the American economy (health care industry) and used the vast power of government and expensive mandates to force millions of small business people and their employees out of work
these guys are either deluded (completely out of touch with the real world on Rock Three) or else they are just liars being paid to try to prop up the current dictatorship.
Only if one is trying to destroy America.
Whoever wrote this piece of Sh*T is READY to Give Obongo a”LEWINSKY”(Reggie Love)?????????????
You have to expect this kind of bovine scatology from someone named Fareed. What the hell does he know about America?
in addition to IslamoNazi enemy propaganda agents in our mass media,
the IslamoNazis have other ways of getting their fellow enemy agents or puppets or useful idiots elected....

If you believe Putin is leader of the free world!
Boot-licker is about the nicest thing I can say.
Obama would not know leadership if it bit him on the ass !
I thought no President could show less leadership then Jimmy Carter. The we got Obama....
Ah, er, Fareed, we're getting none of this either. And who's calling for a herioce exertion of American military power? Did you learn your Straw Man argumantation from Obama? Moron.
“JFK was an absolute disaster in foreign policy, worse than Obama and Carter, while they are all similar in incompetence, at least Obama and Carter didn’t get us into the Vietnam War.”
The point of JFK’s failure was not so much getting us into Vietnam as setting the police action policy there thus making the war unwinable. We could have after all just left at any time.
We could also have changed the policy to aggressively Go after and destroy North Vietnam before the Soviets and Chinese became too heavily invested there. Vietnam was as much LBJ’s naive foolishness as it was JFK’s.
Both of which seem to think of communist leaders as somehow caring about their people and solders more than their own objectives.
JFK could have just followed General Eisenhower’s policy of not getting into a war there.
JFK had much of the vanity and ego problems, and shallowness as Obama.
There are days when I could use what Fareed Zakaria is smoking.
WRONG! Obama has no leadership skills—not a smiggen.
Well, of course it is, Fareed. Now take your medications and go sit in the big chair in the corner and watch Spongebob.
Which doesn't say much for today.
