Looks like just about every market large enough for a local network affiliate had a variation on that theme. Elvira was the pinnacle of it, and she went national.
Maybe “Me TV” on broadcast can pick up the concept and revive it, since they’re entirely nostalgia, old comedies, detective series, etc.
I think I’d enjoy it, cost can’t be too much. Maybe audience participation, put it on in a local restored movie palace, they’re always looking for events that would be well attended.
I’m pretty sure I caught Svengoolie on MeTV last week. He was the Chicago (BERRR-WYNNN!) iteration of the late night horror host. His schtick is telling jokes from a cardboard coffin until the rubber chickens come flying in.
