Well, they kind of are.
The left is simply hypocritical about everything
LOL!!!
I beleive they count the Indians/Pakis, Middle Easterners and such as ‘White’ also around here...
Go to tech manufacturing company and see how many ‘whites’ there actually are..
It’s not that they’re white that matters to the NYT. It’s that they’re not black and not hispanic.
RE: Well, they kind of are.
Depends on which “Asian” you are talking about.
Indians have darker skin on average than Chinese or Koreans. Filipinos are in between.
As they should.
Indians/Pakis, Middle Easterners, as well as North Africans are Caucasians.
The dividing line is somewhere in the Himalayas and the mountains of Myanmar
To the New York Times, if you’re not on welfare, you’re white.
Asians in the US are at an important junction in their history. If they insist on calling themselves color and unite with colors against whites, conservative whites will demonize them and the left will despise them for their economic achievements. IAW if the Asians play their cards poorly, they will end up like the Jews in Europe, the left hates them and the right hates them. Who knows they may be the first ones to end up in the FEMA camps.
Indians are Caucasians.
Chinese, Koreans and other East Asians are on the other side of the Himalayan divide, which separate the two wholly distinct population groups.
Filipinos are a highly intermixed people, which includes not only Spanish/Arab admixture from the Age of Exploration (most have Spanish surnames), but an underlying Negrito component descended from the first humans on the islands, with lots of influence from mainland China, as well as Polynesia.
Well, they’re only “hypocritical” if you believe that they are actually concerned about the issues they say they’re concerned about.
They aren’t. They only seek advantage and power. And any group’s victimhood is one of avenues to power.
Therefore, if you aren’t a victim, you are of no use to them. Sorry, Asians.
While many Indians are descended from Sanskrit speakers who migrated South, there is also a strong admixture of tribal peoples who spoke Dravidian languages.

I didn’t mean skin color when I said they “kind of are” white. I was referring to cultural attitudes and that Asians (both East & South Asians) don’t expect or want any kind of special treatment such as “affirmative action”. And I suspect that most of “Silicon Valley” feels the same way.
Apparently, “white” means you do well in school and get a job.
My friend is 50-50 Korean American. I was astonished that she considers herself a “person of color.” Ivy League grad, all the advantages, and still she feels like a “minority.”
Go figure.
