Californians buying guns from out-of-state sources would have to go through the same steps required for in-state purchases under a bill passed Wednesday by the state Assembly.
AB1609 advanced to the Senate on a 48-23 party-line vote.
...
He said firearms purchased in nearby states with loose regulations, including Nevada and Arizona, are making their way into the hands of criminals in California.
The bill would require that firearms imported from other states must be sent to a California dealer who would then run the required state checks on the buyers to make sure they comply with state rules.

It's fascist democrats "doing something" about autistic gun wielders.
What’s next? People entering the state are stopped and searched at the CA border?
Dummies shouldn’t have their full Constitutional rights and the ability to protect themselves or hunt?

The law, then, isn't broken until that California citizen takes the gun back into his home state. And so how does the state know that a law has been broken? It either uses access to the NICS that it does not legally have, or it requires the citizen to prove where he bought the gun. But the latter is impossible...unless the state ONLY allows possession of firearms whose origin is, or can be, proven to them. That's going to make millions of firearms illegal as soon as it is signed. That couldn't be their intention...could it?
Eat it, criminals.
The last loophole to you evil-doers has been squashed!!! Now what are you going to do? No way you will ever commit murder now!
They already have the agricultural inspection stations set up as roadblocks, so this would not be difficult for the state government to do.
“Whats next? People entering the state are stopped and searched at the CA border?”
It’s already happening. Just read that the CADOJ has agents roaming around gun shows in Reno, NV and following people out with their purchases to see if they get into a car with CA plates. Then of course we have these “Border Taj Mahal’s” where they have a couple of lazy bastards sorta looking for “illegal” plants, fruits, and vegetables. They can be used as “gun importation check points” as well.
Scouts Out! Cavalry Ho!
“It will be a little interesting to see how they intend this to work in practice without gun registration in California. Simple case - guy drives to Nevada, buys a gun from an FFL holding dealer. There’s a seven-day waiting period. Comes back in a week and picks up the gun. Now, the dealer has broken no laws and hasn’t an obligation to treat the California buyer any differently from anyone else, nor can the California government place that obligation on a dealer in another state. Nor can it dictate to a citizen of California what he or she may do in another state.”
Unfortunately, you are wrong! Nevada gun dealers are specifically precluded from selling guns directly to anyone with California identification. They will ship your purchase to a CA FFL for delivery. Nevada law allows their FFLs to sell guns to anyone with ID from a bordering state, EXCEPT California! I personally discussed this matter with the FFL at Cabela’s in Reno.
We are all criminals. Buy another. Buy them like popcorn. Send a message. Oh buy American Ruger, Federal, etc.
“The sale took place through an FFL and I DROSd each time.”
What is DROS?
LOL! Guess that showed them crim-nels...
He has erected a multitude of New Offices, and sent hither swarms of Officers to harass our people, and eat out their substance.
“FU CA”
I, and all the other decent residents of California take offense at your comment!
I guess you have the IQ of an amoeba! Why don’t you try something more “original,” that is if your brain us up to the task!
The killer didn’t buy them out of state. He followed California law and bought them locally from licensed dealers as I understand it.
Feel good BS.
Govts will continue to ignore the mentally ill, and ignore crimes that don’t involve guns. Scumbags.
It’s true that you can keep your handguns in TX. Problem is you can’t carry them openly. Or concealed without purchasing one of the more expensive and difficult to obtain permits in the country.
With deference and respect to Texas FReepers, your gun laws happen to suck.
I bought a milling machine last year here in Melbourne Oz and made my own 1911 frame in aluminum. Currently building a modified copy of a Ruger 10/22. No real problems making a gun in Oz, selling it though can get sticky. Ran into a lot of blokes who make their own, and some designs are pretty interesting.
A state that is going more and more into the direction of the Tea Party.
