ctually, I'm waiting for the executive order prohibiting employers from laying off or firing employees. That will help with the unemployment rate, too.

That's Directive 10-289.

but he's usurping powers that the states have never delegated to Congress via the Constitution.

Yes, anyone in this listening audience :-) who took and insurance exam knows that insurance is the purview of the States and the States meet to make their laws act in sync.

Obama just like with GM bailout and destroying Bankruptcy Law did it again in this arena. I saw this Insurance Power Grab when it happened but many saw it as a minor item, it is not.

Everything he touches he destroys, business contractual norms are all in a state of Flux their are no norms, only their new norms or chaos of which allow them to continue their fundamental transformation into their Socialist Utopia...

I expect that there will be a stampede to the courthouse on Tuesday AM to contest this ruling by aggrieved parties who have benefited from the existing regulations that are being overturned by this regulatory Memorial Day massacre!

I’ve noted usually commenters in the NYT are all Obamabots, but this article doesn’t seem to even have comments.

Yep.

A truly good movie, even though there were certainly some liberal themes in it.

I’m a big fan of movies from the 70’s and 80’s.

“Sooooo this is a tax that wasn’t initiated by the House of Representitives?”

IANAL, but I am a retired CPA who worked in Fortune 500 financial planning and analysis for 25 years and corporate finance/tax/accounting/legal/HR departments will all be screaming bloody murder over this!

Justice Roberts doomed the passage of the offending provision of this bill highlighted in this article as unconstitutional, IMO.

I don’t think that the employer mandate can be implemented.

As someone who buys their own policy from after-tax income, this is something that always irked me.

Dittoes.

Divorcing health insurance from employment is, in itself, not a bad thing. Then everyone (except for the moochers) gets to see truly how much health insurance and care cost. That should put downward pressure on insurance and medical costs.

Democrats hope that would drive people to demand a single payer system. With the disapproval ratings of Obamacare and the VA scandal, things are going the wrong way for that to happen.

re: “I’ve noted usually commenters in the NYT are all Obamabots, but this article doesn’t seem to even have comments.”

I noticed the same thing. My guess is, had they allowed comments, the Obamabots would have supported this ruling as a good thing. It is preventing those “horrible, terrible, no-good capitalists” from dropping people from the their healthcare. I doubt that they would seriously question the legality of the ruling or, openly wonder why dumping them on the exchanges is a “bad” thing.

As someone previously stated, why is “dumping” the employees onto the exchanges looked at as a negative? That would seem to indicate that the government healthcare scenario is not cracked up to being all that great.
