New York is losing the battle to lure outsourced jobs now slowly trickling back to the US and more competitive regions are poaching Gothams jobs.
The tax breaks and incentives to stem New Yorks slide? Too little, too late, critics say.
If youre a businessman thinking of bringing jobs back to one of the 50 states, then New York is at the bottom of that list, said Neal Asbury, a manufacturer who grew up in Morristown, NJ, and has studied New Yorks high cost base.
You have a governor telling the world he doesnt want conservatives in his state because you have to think like him and you have a New York City mayor obsessed with raising taxes to pay for more entitlements. That is not sending a great message,

Nobody goes there anymore, it’s too crowded
For those who don’t know, Asbury, is the CEO of The Legacy Companies, has already brought back from China up to 40 of his companys 300 jobs worldwide to various regions in the US. New York is not one of them.
Maybe our good friend, FReeper CNN can ask him how he did it since he’s always harping about bringing back American jobs (NOTE: He did it without the benefit of tariffs ).
There are always some VERY common-sense reasons why businesses go where they go. It's not rocket science.
RE: Nobody goes there anymore, its too crowded
Singapore is arguably more dense. But businesses flock there ( Including many ex-pat Americans who sadly, renounced their US citizenships ).
Many small business types tend to be conservative. The governor saying that conservatives are not welcome in his state is a giant red flag to stay away.
Also, New York is one of those high tax states, run by liberals. If you are a conservative leaning businessman, the last place you want to commit to, is a place where the politicos see you as a source of deep pockets, to pay ever increasing taxes to fund ever increasing intrusive government programs.
How do you expect to do business when regulators operate like Fascists in broad daylight?

NYC bagel store fined for accidentally dropping sesame seeds on floor
THAT is just one example out of HUNDREDS.
I think the posting was a play on words; Yogi Berra supposedly made the remark, about a popular nightspot in NYC ;)
I would assume that Illinois and California would also be on the “do not inhabit” list as well.
I'd go back there in a..."New York minute,"
However, I would stay where I stayed before at the Intercontinental on 44th Street between 8th and 9th Avenues.
It's WALKING distance to, well almost everything.
I even had my nails done there...and lo and behold, all the women in there were Chinese, just like so MANY places.
They may SAY that they are from some other place, but I can always KNOW if they are Chinese or not.
The secret? The Chinese are the only folks on this planet with round nostrils. All others have non-round nostrils. One only has to get the person to "look up."
I sometimes say: "LOOK! UP IN THE SKY!! It's a bird!!! It's a plane!! NO!! It's SUPERMAN!!!
Then, I can see the shape of their nostrils. All the other Asian Orientals have nostrils shaped like everyone else on the planet, sort of oblong.
I grew up in New York and left for good in 1980.
I still have family there, and, living as I do in a more or less free state, I cannot believe how the fascist power of the state has grown over the past 34 years.
Gun control is the least of it. Do you know that of you are late with your (required) car insurance payment, there is mandatory notification from the insurer to the state, and that they can (and sometimes do) impound your car?
There are such a myriad of state-enforced dos and don’ts for every area of human activity (other than sexual), it’s hard to imagine how anyone can live there.
Not so with California.
Folks can go to the beaches in southern California OR go skiing in the mountains in the north, on the SAME day.
Now THAT is "choice."
Also, California has Hollyweird (a big draw), the Mexico crossing at Tijuana, some of the best pot in the world (in northern California since the Feds shut down their fishing and lumber industries), great fishing and great produce (Central valley)--just to name a few things.
All one needs is money. No, scratch that. Our welfare program is also HUGE.
Congrats on a very smart move on your part. I guess jobs and family are one reason folks stay in places like NY, CA, IL. We live fairly close to the CA border and I can’t believe the cost of living (if you can call it that) in CA. Fifteen hundred sq/ft house for 500K? WTH? Taxes are ridiculous. Gas prices are ridiculous. Don’t think I’ll be going there any time soon.
Having to move to NYC under De Blasio would be a complete insanity, an earthly hell for a small businessman like me.
I avoid going anywhere NEAR New York, particularly the city.
There are some good areas of NY but unfortunately it has been occupied by too many liberals.
Their campaign to draw businesses to NY by a ‘no taxes for ten years’ will not work because smart businessmen know that the far left liberals in NY will use ‘fees’ to reclaim the money they lose in ‘taxes’.
Our local health system is also RELENTLESS. It weeds out the lazy, incompetent, foolish and careless.
We have 4000 restaurants in a city of less than a million. Half of those places close every year.
Side note: more than half the closed-down restaurants are Chinese. Last month the health department closed down a very popular take-out Chinese, which got its food from its upstairs VERY popular restaurant.
They were BOTH closed down AND the place is NEVER, EVER, EVER, allowed to sell food again.
I had never seen THAT particular punishment before so the place must have been HORRIFICALLY filthy.
Sigh, it's all about money, innit?
Cleanliness COSTS and some folks are just too cheap to spend money on what they consider "unnecessary" expenditures.
I never eat Chinese any more. Even one of our close acquaintances, Chinese, won't go out to a Chinese restaurant. They are too filthy. She cooks at home.
SHE is the one who said, "Never sit at a table by the wall. You'll see the cockroaches climbing up and down. Sit in the center of the room."
Yes, it would.
