Marine Le Pen declared victory in European Union elections tonight as voters backed populist, far-Right and Left-wing parties in a backlash against immigration and the euro's economic policies.
In a stunning defeat for the European political establishment, exit polls forecast that the French Front National, which wants to leave the euro and the EU, would win 25 per cent of the vote...
...Miss Le Pen's Front National will increase its number of MEPs from three to 24 in an earthquake for French and eurozone politics.
"Our people demand one type of politics: politics by the French, for the French, with the French. They don't want to be led anymore from outside, to submit to laws," said Miss Le Pen.
"Tonight is a massive rejection of the EU. What is happening in France prefigures what will happen in all European countries, the return of the nation."
The French political establishment, the Gaullist UMP and Socialists, were in disarray last night after the far-Right Front National convincingly won the EU election to become France's largest political party in the EU assembly.
"It will mean that France would disappear from Europe's political scene. It would be a tragedy for our country," warned Alain Lamassoure... Socialist sources close to President Hollande spoke of "a new crisis of authority" and market turbulence for his beleaguered administration that struggling to pull France out of recession.
"Tonight is the start of the crisis. The shock in Europe and the world will be very violent if the far-Right comes first in France," said a senior aide.
President Hollande has called a crisis cabinet meeting on Monday morning to discuss his government's response to the biggest political upheaval in a generation.
Manuel Valls, the Socialist prime minister, described the result as a "very grave moment for France and Europe".

The speaker of the house fully intends to push amnesty, and bring it to a vote.
As I said. The GOP-E leadership needs to pay attention. They are the ones pushing amnesty, regardless of what everyone else wants.
/johnny
The fact that it is not law tells me that the Speaker of the House hasn't allowed it to come to a vote yet. The House hasn't voted on the Amnesty bill.
The speaker has control over whether it gets a vote or not.

I didn’t get a harrumph out of that guy!

The cry from the leftist will be one word and that word is racism. There is a move over here to try to silence those that want our country back. We are seeing that a lot of the europeans are tired of this crap and they are fighting back. Time for us to follow the lead of those brave people.
“The fact that it is not law tells me that the Speaker of the House hasn’t allowed it to come to a vote yet. The House hasn’t voted on the Amnesty bill.”
Regardless, then you should send a thank you note to Speaker Boehner, don’t you think.
The Europeans better start getting racist. Otherwise they will become minority in their own country. That is when the Muslim will take over the governments...........invasion through idiotic tolerance.
I an for immigration, round them up and send them home with thier supporting politicians and thier families
You really do have your nose stuck in the GOP-E, don't you?
/johnny
“I’d like to send the son-of-a-bitch a pink slip.”
You don’t want Boehner to have an immigration vote and so far, he has not. Why not sent him a thank you note ?
I'm not so short sighted as to not see the long-term game.
The liberal republican party must be destroyed.
/johnny
Is Boehner sincere when he says he wants a vote on amnesty? Or is he simply giving the GOP business lobby a taste of something he never intends to deliver on?
There is broad consensus in gope that the dreamers (kids under 20 but who have lived here almost their whole lives) must be allowed amnesty for humanitarian reasons. The Gope believes in compassion and common sense for others.
That is if you are from Brazil since the age of 2 and don’t even speak portugese, you get to stay because you are American and Brazil might as well be Mars for all you know.
There is broad consensus in Gope that the adults who have been here a long long time and are not criminals except for immigration crimes, that they also should have some path to citizenship.
There is broad consensus that the illegals who are criminals in other ways in addition to immigration crime will go.
There is broad consensus the adults who are not long term US residents will not get amnesty.
There is mimimal consensus about people in between these catagories.
There is broad consensus in Gope that the border must be sealed and a Canadian type immigration quota system put in place.
There is broad consensus in Gope that the democrats and Harry Reid and Obama in particular can not be trusted to negotiate in good faith or in implementation.
I think there will be no bill until 2015. If the republicans gain 10 seats in the senate, the republicans will then vote out a bill totally to their liking and plunk it down on Obama’s desk. The bill will have amnesty for the dreamers, some long term residents with penalties, no amnesty for short term residents, and a dramatic sealing of the borders and a revamped canadian style system for future immigrants.
It will reflect the goals of Gope which is common sense mixed with conservatism mixed with compassion.
It will be interesting to see if he signs it.
