I wondered if, with his parent’s involvement with Hollywood and its lifestyle, there might be something else to the story. The killer was probably used to hearing (or overhearing) stories from both about the hedonistic fun that others in the film industry are enjoying—even at a young age—and wondered why he wasn’t enjoying any of it himself.

I too assumed he was on some kind of psychotropic drug. One was prescribed to him but he refused to take it.
However he had broken his foot some months ago and had prescriptions for Xanax and Vicodin and wrote that he planned to take them before he started his rampage.

Go to his site and check out his work. His butt pics aren't particularly perverted. Actually, they're kinda nice.
Going a step further, I don't think the father should be blamed for the crimes of the son...unless a link can be established that demonstrates cause and effect.

If the guy photographed cute puppies would anyone conclude that his “work” was an influence on the son?
This is not to say that the family is not sick but photographing women tells us nothing about it
