Ok I would love to get rid of Comcast and get rid of its cable too expensive for a few channel I see. I know to view my favorite shows I can stream Netflix or Amazon or whatever, but how about if you want your local news. What would I need to do?

You can get local news over the air but you might need a converter if you have an old TV set.

There is an Antenna that will bring in local channels.
Best buy or radio shack will have it, there is also a web site to order one!

Rabbit ears. I’m in an apartment and get about half a dozen local stations; a rooftop antenna would get more. Also, most TV stations stream their newscasts live.

Or you can buy one at Radio Shack. I’m about to go that route. Plus, it will be in true HD.

Visit http://www.antennaweb.org for antenna size recommendations.
You may be able to get away with an indoor antenna if you live close to the TV station's broadcast towers.

“but how about if you want your local news. “

Maybe it’s because I grew up in DC, where national news was the local news, but why would anyone ever watch local news? Not being facetious, just curious. What’s the appeal? Is it really a necessity or even a good use of time to know the stories they run on such broadcasts?
