Harry Reid's Desperate Money Pitch: Democrats In 'Deep Trouble'
NewsMax ^ | 05/24/2014 | Bill Hoffmann

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid revealed on Friday that the Democratic Party is in "deep trouble" in the upcoming midterm elections.

In a breathless fundraising email pitch with a subject line "deep trouble" obtained by Newsmax, Reid says: "The polls say it better than I ever could: We need you to make a contribution BEFORE MIDNIGHT TONIGHT.''

He backs up his worry with new polls that show Republican candidates are neck and neck with their Democratic challengers in four key Senate races.

In North Carolina, Thom Tillis (R) and Kay Hagan (D) each have 41 percent of the vote; in Colorado, Cory Gardner (R) has 44 percent and Mark Udall (D) 45 percent; in Arkansas, Tom Cotton (R) has 42 percent and Mark Pryor (D) 43 percent; and in Alaska, Dan Sullivan (R) has 37 percent and Mark Begich (D) 42 percent.

To emphasize the need for donations, Reid includes the amount of money he claims Republican strategist Karl Rove has pumped in to each race: $3.5 million in North Carolina; $2.8 million in Colorado; $1.7 million in Arizona; and $1.8 million in Arkansas.

"Karl Rove’s $10 million spending spree could put Republicans in the driver’s seat in the four states he’s targeting," Reid says.

These polls are all over the place. Just last week, an NBC Poll had Mark Pryor up a stunning 11 points over Tom Cotton

After 8 years of Democrat control of the Senate and five years of Obama, THIS is the best they can do. NOT leading in a single one of these four polls. What a pathetic bunch of boobs.

With the destruction of the jobs, incomes, property ownership of the so-called remaining middle class, merging ever downward, the ability of the middle class is becoming the least effective in influencing political parties, representation in comparison with the increasing dependency class, the 20% class all the way to the 1%ers composed of mostly the corporate class.

The monied interests, corporations, foundations, unions are all that are left as contributors in the main. They are running govt with the added participation of the Muslim advisors recently involved in Executive Branch policy decisions and now have a formal political party, the USMCO, no doubt seeking approval of Sharia compliant fundraising.

The dependents mostly vote Dem, contribute little money...are bought by larger benefit distributions, and the middle class languishes whether Dem or Rep.and plays less and less a role in fund raising successes.

All I can say is that if Harry Reid was on fire and I could put it out by p*ss*ng on him, I wouldn’t.

I don’t know about the Senate, but on the other side of the Capitol.

From the Wall Street Journal:
House Democrats’ Campaign Arm Outraised GOP Rivals in April

“House Democrats’ campaign arm outraised its Republican counterpart by $3 million last month, pulling in $7.1 million to Republicans’ $4.1 million.

The Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee’s haul brings its total for the cycle to $106.5 million—about $20 million more than the GOP committee. Democrats also have $11 million more in the bank. Neither committee has any debt.”

They’ll simply ignore all rules of political funding and fundraising. Everyone knows that no court will enforce campaign financing laws against them.

After the election, they’ll be all for “campaign finance reform.” The Republicans will go along with new laws that hamstring the Right and leave the Left with even more freedom to raise unlimited money from foreign sources and labor unions, as well as directly from pools of taxpayer money.

“Maybe he should send one to the Koch Brothers.”

Why should he do that? What have the Koch Brothers done to screw anything up?

Mere genning up a little hysteria among the faithful to get them to shake their wallets a little harder. Reminds me of the story back from the Clinton years about how the Democrats put out such dire predictions about how the Republicans would impoverish senior citizens one stupid old woman donated most of her life savings to the Democratic party thus impoverishing herself to help stem the tide of the evil Republicans. When she realized what she had done (or more likely a relative realized it) she tried to get her money back. No go.

But of course Democrats CARE so much more for seniors than do Republicans.

I don’t think the Koch Brothers have done anything wrong. I just remember that Harry got money from them years ago. He is such a tool.

I don't think the dems are in as much trouble as all these news reports are proclaiming. I think will be close and hard campaign for the senate.

All this hyper-ventilating is just a fund raising gimmick.

It’s NBC, for crying out loud. If these clowns reported rain for tomorrow, I’ll be sure to bring my Ray Bans.
