TEL AVIV The U.S. last week held a clandestine meeting in Egypt with Ghazi Hamad, the deputy foreign minister of Hamas, according to informed Middle Eastern security officials.
The officials would not say whether the meeting was with a current member of the U.S. government or a former diplomat acting as a proxy for the Obama administration.
Messages were exchanged about Hamass intentions as part of a newly formed Palestinian unity government with the rival Fatah party, led by Mahmoud Abbas, the officials said.
Last week, Israels Haaretz newspaper quoted an unnamed White House official stating the Obama administration is leaning toward cooperating with the Hamas-Fatah Palestinian unity government, even if Hamas does not recognize Israels right to exist and despite objections from the Israeli government.
Previously the Middle East Quartet, made up of the U.S., Russia, European Union and United Nations, declared it would not deal with Hamas unless the terrorist group renounces violence and recognizes Israel.
The Haaretz article did not mention any U.S.-Hamas meeting.
Hamas has several times claimed it talked with U.S. surrogates about eventually establishing open relations.

The list, Ping
Let me know if you would like to be on or off the ping list
It’s quite a good thing that they won’t recognize Israel. That makes it very clear for everyone else ... who is causing the problem here.
Put me on all your lists if I am not already. I think we have the same interests and outlook on things. Got one on Biblical Archeology?
If anybody thinks a terrorist (or Islamist, same thing) organization will ever acknowledge Israels right to exist they are demonstrating they understand nothing about the situation. Islamists gain their funding membership and support by attacking Israel. That is the only reason they exist. If Israel suddenly vanished tomorrow theyd all be thrown into chaos until they reinvented themselves as against their next enemy; Shia, Sunni or possibly the great Satan America. Without a focus for their hate they dont have purpose and without purpose they wont have members or funding or existence itself. Theyd have to go off and find legitimate jobs and thats tough to do, much harder than attacking Israel and getting showered with funding. Probably the most important thing in their lives is the sense of purpose and religious piety they gain from attacking a foe, regardless of who that foe is. They dont want peace or land or any of the things they talk about. They want that sense of purpose and piety. So, no, as long as they exist there will be no peace. They will always be attacking somebody in the name of Allah.
Sorry, no Bibical Archeology- just the White House. :)
I don’t know if you have time but the advances are amazing. Isn’t there a verse that says the earth and seas shall give up their secrets in the last days?
Not sure about that. Maybe.
If we had a genuinely honest and patriotic administration, they would use any opportunities to meet with terrorist, to eliminate them.
So, the Koranimal of the moment won’t accept Israel’s right to exist.
DUUHHH!
Koranimals do not accept the right of existence of anyone not a muslim.
Go to a big blackboard. Mark a dot with a piece of chalk. That’s the size of Israel in relation to the Arab states which feel threatened. The Arab states are the entirety of the blackboard!
All the Arabs want is racial purity like Hitler’s desires. Arabs can’t handle a non-conforming dot in the midst of their Sharia paradise.

Look. If one armed party doesn’t even recognize that another party has a “right to exist”, then the two can NEVER live together in harmony.
The only alternative is that one of the two parties are destroyed.
The US should be on Israel’s side. Many supporters of PLO are terrorists and enemies of our way of life, such as equal rights and freedoms of all kinds that we take as a given for a civilized nation.
We can begin by eliminating ALL aid to Palestine. We should not be treating these Palestine as morally equivalent with Israel.
