I hope so. Because if the guy was really sitting next to him on a plane, West just painted a target on his back.

As someone else pointed out: it would be child's play for the federal government to find out who was sitting next to West on a plane, for at least the past year.

Exactly. Like Harry Reid and his over the transom unsubstantiated information on Romney not paying his taxes.
Protecting sources is the key to gaining future information from Confidential Informants and Sources. We are fans of Col West and think he acts in good faith but we always take everything, and I mean everything, with at least a tinge of skepticism. Paranoid has become a healthy condition for survival in this Brave New World of the Socialist Democrat Party. Trust but verify is not sufficient when verification can hardly ever mean certainty.

A couple of observations: (1) I agree with your theory. West knows OpSec. (2) To those who keep saying this is an "I know a guy who knows a guy" story, re-read the article. West says he spoke to someone whose friend was on the roof. This person on the roof is one of the two dead. This does not mean the person West was speaking with was not there at the compound. Could be a survivor.
