Mitt Romney, the Republican nominee for president in 2012, will be in Davenport and Cedar Rapids on Friday, May 30, to campaign for GOP Senate hopeful Joni Ernst.
Romney, who finished second in the 2012 Iowa caucuses, endorsed Ernst earlier in the five-way race for the nomination to run for the U.S. Senate seat being vacated by Tom Harkin.
Details of the events will be announced soon, the Ernst campaign said in a news release. The stops will be open to the public.
Ernst is running in the June 3 primary against retired energy executive Mark Jacobs, former U.S. Attorney Matt Whitaker, college professor Sam Clovis and sales professional Scott Schaben.
hehe
Palin and Romney campaigning together. That oughta make almost every FReeper’s head explode.
Who is Doug Gross backing and who is Branstad backing?
I don’t think that Doug Gross has endorsed anyone. Terry Branstad never endorses in primaries. Lt. Governor Kim Reynolds has endorsed Ernst.
Gross has endorsed Mark Jacobs. Jacobs’ support seems to come from business types.
Brandstad hasn’t endorsed anyone, but seems pleased that his Lt. Gov. is backing Ernst. She also has the suspicious backing of open-border types like Bruce Rastetter and former chairs of the Chamber of Commerece and National Association of Manufacturers.
Whitaker’s support seems drawn from local Republican insiders.
I’ve sent money to Joni, based on Sarah’s recommendation.
Sam Clovis took the FAIR pledge. He also helped Steve King call out Rubio throughout 2013.
I will vote for Clovis. Genuinely good man.
It says NOTHING in the article about Milt and Sarah campaigning together. Do you have information we don’t?
They’ve both endorsed Ernst. Odd bedfellows, don’t you think?
I already knew that, as most people paying any attention do. You implied that they’d be campaigning together and that heads would explode. Link? BTW, do you know which of the two endorsed LTC Ernst first and who was the “me, too!” of the pair?
I also have to check, on this claim.
Source please?
I would have real qualms of supporting anyone who has Romney on their side.
Romney endorsed Ernst a few weeks before Palin, at least publicly. Certainly there might have been behind-the-scenes stuff going on.
Well, it does make me squeamish, but we’re talking about replacing TOM HARKIN. Ol’ Mitt himself would be an improvement.
Most real conservatives would reasonably
avoid ANYONE Mitt-the-Statist Carpetbagger endorsed.
No, the poster in question is blowing smoke up people's @ss to ignite a flame war.
Not exactly. It was intended as not-so-sly humor. Ya gotta admit it’s wierd to get the endorsement of Romeny AND Palin. Almost makes my head explode, but I’m voting for Clovis.
Clovis is not a good man. was just quoted as saying he does not want illegal aliens deported.
Yet Clovis is quoted in the Des Moines Register as saying it is “heartless” to deport those illegally in this country. That is not a good man. Ernst appears the best candidate.
