Sherman Produce in St. Louis recalled 241 cases of bulk walnuts in 25-pound cardboard boxes and in an unrelated recall Lansal, Inc., recalled 14,860 pounds of hummus and dip products -- both for possible Listeria.
In addition, Sherman Produce recalled Schnucks brand 10-ounce trays of walnuts with UPC 00338390032 with "best by dates" 03/15 and 04/15 because the products are potentially contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes. No illnesses were reported.
The products were sold to retailers in Missouri and Illinois from March to May 2014.
The U.S. Food and Drug Administration detected Listeria in walnuts sampled at the facility. All walnuts processed in the facility during the same time frame are being recalled.
Sherman Produce advises consumers who have purchased walnuts are urged not to consume them and to dispose of them or return for a full refund.
