MOSCOW, May 22 (RIA Novosti) Talks with foreign partners to purchase Russias Ka-52 Alligator attack helicopters will begin in earnest in 2016 or 2017, a representative of Russian arms exporter Rosoboronexport said Thursday. The Ka-52 was unveiled internationally at the 50th Le Bourget airshow last June.
This is the case of a prospect of 2016-2017, Vladislav Kuzmichev told RIA Novosti at the HeliRussia 2014 expo in Moscow.
Kuzmichev added that the the helicopter is currently being demonstrated to potential customers.
The Ka-52 Hokum-B is a modification of the Ka-50 Hokum. It has a maximum speed of 350 kilometers per hour, a flight ceiling of 5,500 meters, and a range of over 1,000 kilometers.
Do the ejection seats eject downward to avoid the rotor?
Nope, its the usual method-the rotors are blown off first.
Full of Hokum and runs on change??
That’s 2 rotors!!
Double jeopardy
How nice an updated old design and a very huge helicopter to boot, my money is on an AH-64 pilot having boatloads of fun shooting this monster down or at least a Marine Stinger Group.
Choppers aren’t about to attack another choppers most of the time.
Or auto rotate down at half the speed, in a non combat situation.
Huh....years ago, I just thought the band America was taking some serious halucinogenics. However, it seems there are really alligator lizards in the air.
Usually not, but this thing is so big an AH-64 pilot could have fun shooting it down as could a first rate stinger crew.
They sure like the counter-rotating blades. Pretty sweet.
side by side seating means a bit fatazz target...but it looks cool

Stingers were ridiculously inefficient against older Mi-24, given a proper defensive suites installed, and Hind had a much larger IR-signature comparing to Ka-50/52.
As for air-air you won’t learn before someone is going to try.
I would be very disappointed if I learned we haven’t already worked on that tactic.
Iran-Iraq War had a lot of chopper-on-chopper battles.
Mostly Hinds vs Cobras.
Alligator? Weird name for a Russian helicopter.
