He’s up in his 80’s.

That makes a difference.

At 82 hasn’t Sheriff Joe earned some retirement...I salute him but at 82 all BS has to take its toll.

I wish there were more like him, but yes, Sheriff Arpaio is quite old. I would not be sensible or even proper to load all that responsibility on his back for yet another term. I think one of the only reasons he has not (yet) been ‘Breitbarted’ by some Obama supporter somewhere is because they fully expect him to be gone from public life soon.

Already, he gets very little coverage on what he does. Wasn’t it last year when he and Orly Tait were conducting all these ‘exposes’ of the Obama Citizenship mystery, and none of the main media touched it, except as a bothersome joke. Fox would only barely bring it up. That Arpaio is one stubborn Dessert Tortoise, who won’t give up w/o a battle. I actually think he has been invigorated by the challenge and the riddle that is all things Obama.

Yep, he’d be 86 at the end of his first term.

On the other hand, the left wing/socialist Governor in neighboring California, Jerry “Governor Moonbeam” Brown is 76 years old and he is running for reelection.

The bottom line is that in his current job he is a winner, very popular and reasonably bullet proof. But anywhere else he would have big targets painted all over him.

The biggest hope right now is that he will pick his best and brightest lieutenant to be his successor, and make sure he can assume the role with minimum break in continuity; because he is going to be assailed by every scoundrel and reprobate in the region, and likely the feds as well.

Joe would outwork and 40 year old AND do the right things! I can see him now, calling out the national guard to stop infiltration from Mexico dead in its tracks at the AZ border.
