The Obama administration is issuing 30-year permits for “taking” (killing) bald and golden eagles. The great birds will be legally slaughtered “unintentionally” by lethal wind turbines installed in their breeding territories, and in “dispersion areas” where their young congregate (e.g. Altamont Pass).
By chance (if you believe in coincidences), a timely government study claims wind farms will kill “only” 1.4 million birds yearly by 2030 (1). This new report is just one of many, financed with taxpayers’ money, aimed at convincing the public that additional mortality caused by wind plants is sustainable. – It is not.
Dr. Shawn Smallwood’s 2004 study, spanning four years, estimated that California’s Altamont Pass wind “farm” killed an average of 116 Golden Eagles annually (2). This adds up to 2,900 dead “goldies” since it was built 25 years ago. Altamont is the biggest sinkhole for the species, but not the only one, and industry-financed research claiming that California’s GE population is stable is but a white-wash.

I like to call them “Green Energy Performance Art”.
They outlawed DDT because they were worried that it MIGHT hurt eagles. This led to millions of of humans dying from malaria. These wind farms are ACTUALLY killing eagles and you hear nothing from the liberals.
If there were more videos of eagles, falcons, and hawks being struck by the blades and then these beautiful creatures in their death throes on the ground, then the future of these “wind farms” would be in jeopardy.
A private citizen can go to jail for even being in possession of an eagle feather.
Not only that but they’re ruining my “view shed”. But that’s what waivers are for now isn’t it? Let’s see one of us peons get a waiver.

Speaking of insane liberal minds (redundant), my wife’s friend travels through Texas often for business and she has a fear of traveling between long stretches of windfarms like the one she talks about near Sweetwater Texas. She says that it really scares her. Pretty ironic.
The windfarm stretches for what seems like a hundred miles, as far into the horizon as you can see. We drove through it last summer coming from Austin on our way to Amarillo. It is massive in scope. A few years ago, we drove through California’s biggest windfarm near Livermore, and it is nothing compared to the one in Northwest Texas. I’m guessing that everyone of the turbines was manufactured in China. In between the windmills were lots of oil rigs and jacks. My guess, all of it made and employed by Americans.
The Eagle is our National bird. Fitting for bo to kill them off.

Firstly, I want to say that I am in no way an advocate for wind farms, I am though an advocate for facts.
I live right next to a wind farm under a primary flight tributary to the nearest of the three main flyways.
For the life of me, I cant figure out why it is that, supposedly in the rest of the world, birds of every type fly into giant noisy rotating blades. The only birds Ive ever seen dumb enough to fly anywhere near the blades are seagulls of which we have a ridiculous over abundance. The only birds I have ever found, or have heard of being found by locals, were seagulls and a blackbird of some type.
The bald eagles, sandhill cranes, Canadian geese, hawks, everything, even the pigeons, seem to have enough sense to stay away.
Maybe those on the farms here are noisier in some way? Maybe the 3 windmill farms here stand out in some other way to birds? I dont know.
There are plenty of reasons to hate windmill farms and want to see them torn down but, I cant jump on this particular bandwagon because from what Ive seen it just isn't true.
Its important to stick to the real reasons. Making this into an issue of animal protection to gain lib backing also empowers their "animal protection" efforts elsewhere in the future.
Combine them with solar plants and you have shredded, baked poultry to feed the starving victims of the Baraqqi Depression.

We don't have hundred mile flatland wind farms. Here a windfarm is 20 or so that stick out of the tops of the tallest hills, not 1000 square miles of sausage grinder.
If it bothers you that wind turbines kill eagles, just think that our tax dollars through “Production Tax Credit” is paying for them.
Without the PTC, they would not exist.
Windmills are a sacrament for the envirowackos. They won’t give them up easily.

Last year 72% of wind turbine components were made in US. Roscoe Wind Complex used four vendors but I don’t have a breakdown.
