Does KY have or count write-ins? Just as effective to leave the Senate race blank, and it will be seen that the Senate race is attracting fewer participants than other down-ballot contests.

"One of the main strategies of the DNC this year is to convince voters that republicans and democrats are really the same, so it’s best to either stay home (as a way to teach the GOP a lesson) or just vote for the more folksy dem"

Well said, and I tend to agree...it does seem to be working so far...

For the record, Kentucky is a closed primary.

" If I were a Kentucky resident ....I'd immediately begin to organize a write-in campaign for Bevin in the general election"

That is a most interesting idea. It at least raises questions that should be asked:

Could it be done?

Has it ever been done? (If so-how was it done?)

What about McConnell as a candidate against the democrat in the general election? (Can he win with a 30% approval rating going into it?)

For the conservative voter:

Is there any reason to vote for McConnell, in light of his open and declared hostility toward the Tea Party/what it stands for?

Only 9% turned out for the election and of those-More turned out for the democrat than for the turtle- Looks like Mitch is going to lose in November either way. Perhaps an Outside-The-Box write in campaign for Bevin could work?

I do not see why not. I plan on either a Write-In or voting 3rd party in November against McConnell and I plan to encourage as many people I know to do likewise.

I think McConnell gets trounced by Grimes because we Conservatives are sitting home or voting for someone else besides him. McConnell is widely hated or disliked in this state except among party hacks, leeches and those members of the Chamber of Commerce.

NO. He killed any reason to vote for him. You do not vote for a creep who secretly aids the enemy while openly declaring war on you.

Not for a win. To defeat McConnell, yes, but not to defeat Grimes. The DNC Machine is already hard at work and McConnell is already on defense trying to set parameters for CLOSED debates.

Truth is that the GOP and Conservatives lost this seat due to the continuing coup ongoing in the Federal Beast.

That's what you don't understand - the election is over. Not certain why you don't know that. The power of incumbency can be all the politician needs.
,br> Bogey,
You have to understand that Dave is a GOP-E stooge. Read his posting history.

Wait, what? Oh, I think I understand. McConnell is such a poor choice that you were offended by any, no matter how remote, insinuation that your comments might be construed as supportive of McConnell. That's appropriate. I didn't mean to insult you, but I get why you'd be insulted. And, I think the good people of Kentucky share that sentiment. And that's why McConnell will lose in the general. And I sincerely, sincerely hope that 10% or better of Kentucky writes in Bevin's name in place of McConnell so the opportunity to make a statement is not missed: "republicans can't win without the conservative vote ... so earn it".

I wouldn't put money on the success of a write-in campaign against McConnell. Statistically speaking, that would be quite an anomaly. Still ... McConnell will be defeated by Grimes -- of that I have no doubt -- and Kentucky has an opportunity to use that defeat as a voice for conservatism. I hope they don't let it go to waste. I think writing Bevin's name in would deliver the message loud and clear that republican's can't win without conservative support, and that they need to earn that support.
