I don’t know,,, It wasn’t like someone was trying to punch or shoot her. I’d rather get hit in the back with a thrown shoe, than in the face or crotch! However, as I recall, she had a very delayed reaction, and the shoe was well past her by the time she turned.

Disagree completely.

Bush did it right. He watched the direction of the thrower and was able to react to the next throw.

Turning your back to an attacker is both a sign of defeat and surrender to fate.

I want a president who is a fighter.

That's the part that caught my attention, as well. If the thrower had been more accurate, the shoe would have clocked her right in the face. Her reflexes were way slow.
