Not only is the word “priviliege” being hijacked, but the word “qualified”. I have three friends that have kids in college that wanted summer jobs. They all have 3.5 plus gpa’s with majors in Pharmacy, Math Education, and I don’t know the third, but none can find summer jobs. The state of NY, being what it is, started a jobs program for the summer for 14-20 year olds. Working in nursing homes, with kids, etc. It probably doesn’t pay a lot, but it would be a job. The newspaper add said to call the number to see if you were “qualified”. What qualified means is your parents make less then $40,000 a year. How is that a qualification? A future math
teacher, great kid, would be wonderful working with kids. But is not “qualified”. A loser that could care less who’s parents make under $40,000 is qualified to work with kids or the elderly. And the taxpayers of NY are paying for this program!

Qualified is also how the big companies scam the STEM job-market so that they can get more H21B visas; it goes like this:
  1. Post a job with ridiculous requirements, like 2+ years in-field experience for an entry-level job.
  2. When they can't hire anyone who's qualified they can use that as documentation that they need more visas.
  3. They then bring people over on visas and work the crap out of them for low wages which, in turn,
  4. lowers the average salary for the whole field.
