You know, if I were wanting to create ill will regarding the second amendment, I can’t think of a better way than to get a bunch of yahoos showing poor gun etiquette in public places.

I would never carry my AR into a public place. Just too in your face for me. Illinois is new to concealed carry and some of us are trying very hard to establish a good reputation. Last weak I was visiting my folks at their assisted living and another couple joined us for lunch. The TV was on and there was something on about crime. The lady commented that she had heard that it was legal to carry a gun now and that scared her. I politely told her about the restrictions and such and that I was licensed to carry and sometimes did, altho I was not just then. I ended up with two converts. I would like to think that if someone brings the subject up with them that they will tell them that that polite young man who comes to see his parents all the time carries, so it must be OK. That is how I think it should be done.

Maybe Chipotle's competitors will update their signage:

We should all send the head office a copy of this to post at their stores:

If they don’t want the business of legal carriers, that is their business.
But it also tells potential criminals that Chipotle is an UNARMED VICTIMS ZONE. Look for armed robberies of these stores to rise.
(P.S.- A LARGE banner posted outside of a store saying something like, “ATTENTION CRIMINALS! This store does not allow Legal carry of weapons. It is safe for you to rob!”, would likely create one hell of a stir.)

I eat chipotle often. I’m not entirely clear why you’d need a rifle since the meat is already dead.
I’m as RKBA as the next NRA Life Member but I cannot fathom what reason to bring a rifle into the restaurant. Handguns sure but rifles ?
Nuts.

I have lived in states which allow open carry and I support those laws. The main reason is so they cannot prosecute people for accidentally letting their concealed weapon be seen.
I have never openly carried except when in the woods etc. Just don’t want to advertise that I have a weapon.

Even concealed carry? Gee...how would’ja know?
To: TurboZamboni
I think some of the open-carry advocates are taking things to an extreme, and it might backfire. There typically is no urban threat that makes it necessary to carry a rifle with you like Lucas McCain when you go into town. If such a threat was present, you probably shouldn’t bother going into town.
Open-carry advocates who do so are trying to focus attention on a political agenda, at the expense of the business they use for these demonstrations. Coffee shops and restaurants just want to serve coffee and food; they don’t necessarily want to become a focal point for 2nd Amendment politics.
I can’t stomach the liberal group “Moms Demand Action”. But I don’t blame these businesses for taking a somewhat neutral stance, trying to keep the majority of their customers happy.

Not much point in making these pronouncements, as none affect where I carry or when.

I guess they don’t want gun owners to bring their dollars either.

A logical thing to do, then would be to “protest” on public property with arms in plain sight, right in from of Chipitoles, and see how they like that.
