State Sen. Dan Patrick has reported raising more than $4 million in the past two months as he tries unseating Lt. Gov. David Dewhurst in next week's GOP primary runoff.
The tea party favorite from Houston said Monday that total only encompass contributions between Feb. 23 and this past weekend.
Patrick reported spending $3.75 million on statewide media advertising and says he has $400,000 in cash on-hand remaining before the May 27 election. Early voting began Monday.

I notice they throw around the figures here. Look at how a cheerleader reports on Jerry Brown’s fundraising status in another article.
“Browns approval ratings are strong and his campaign war chest is flush with cash.”
DoWorst seems only to campaign well when he has no serious competition. His latest TV ads have some audio “dead thump” sound to them.... of course with his SOP mudslinging.
If I didn’t know anything about either candidate and was new to Texas (which I’m not), I’d vote for Patrick on the basis of the sleaziness of Dewhurst’s ads. But I’m a native, and I watched how he slimed Ted Cruz a few years ago. This year is looking like more of the same. Even if you weren’t that into Patrick, your vote for him could go a long way to getting rid of the squishy Lieutenant Governor — until the next time he pops up.
