A new Citizens United Political Victory Fund poll shows that six-term incumbent Sen. Thad Cochran (R-MS) is slightly trailing his Tea Party challenger state Sen. Chris McDaniel just a couple weeks from election day in Mississippi. The election is on June 3.
The poll, conducted by pollster Kellyanne Conway of the Polling Company, Inc., found that McDaniel is beating Cochran 43 percent to 39 percent, respectively. A third candidate, Tom Carey, has 3 percent of voters according to the poll, and 12 percent of voters are undecided.
Conways firm conducted the poll between May 14 and May 15, and it surveyed 505 likely Republican primary voters in Mississippi. The poll has a 4.4 percent margin of error, meaning McDaniels lead is so narrow its just inside the margin of error according to this data.

If Cochrane loses this, look for him to support the democrat in November, a la Mike Castle.
“If Cochrane loses this, look for him to support the democrat in November, a la Mike Castle.”
And John Warner, and Richard Lugar, and Dede Scozzafava.
Mitch McConnell: “I dont think they are going to have a single nominee anywhere in the country.”

And from my former Maryland Congressional District 1, the uber-RINO Wayne Gilchrest who was defeated by a Tea Party candidate (before there was a Tea Party) in the 2008 primary after 18 years of not representing his base. Of course, he also turned around and supported the Democrat in the race as is the RINO pattern.
Wayne Gilchrest is now, happily for me, a HAS BEEN.
It is good news indeed-—and explains the coordinated hit pieces (trying to cook up a “nursing home gate”) on McDaniel undertaken by the NRSC and various other GOPe RINO operatives.
Great news. Cochran will be retired and join his wife in the nursing home.
crist, specter ...
Sasse was the first. McDaniel will be the second.
So, the Gobbler has already been proved wrong.
I can’t wait to vote of Chris McDaniel three Tuesdays from now.
This is news but as of today McDaniel’s lead is dropping like a Lead Zeppelin. McDaniel’s Tea Party idiot has handed the election back to Cochran with the news of this nursing home pictures of Cochran’s wife. McDaniel needed to come clean quickly but tried the politician’s way out and acted like he didn’t know...and there is no way he didn’t for three days prior to being asked about the incident.
And TW Shannon should be the third in OK on June 24th.
This may be the shortest celebration on record.
Agree and immigration in lame duck secession. We will have it passed in lame duck Congress .Thad is a liberals pure and simple ..but not sue Chris Mc. is any better.
Ping!
It’s up to McDaniel now, to run a winning campaign. The problem a lot of the failed candidates have had is that they aren’t real constitutional conservatives, and faltered when trying to articulate the message they didn’t really believe.
This is a Madison County Detention Center booking photograph taken Saturday, May 17, 2014 in Canton, Miss., of Clayton Thomas Kelly, 28, of Pearl, who was arrested Friday by Madison Police
and charged with a felony, exploitation of a vulnerable adult, after allegedly going into
a nursing home and photographing Rose Cochran, 72, the bedridden wife of Republican
U.S. Sen. Thad Cochran without permission and posted an image online as part of a video.
Something about this whole episode smells fishy...a week ago, the big headline was Thad Cochran’s living arrangements with his long-time personal assistant. Seems that Thad rents an apartment from her in D.C., and she has accompanied him on numerous trips overseas. The personal relationship apparently began after Mrs. Cochran was placed in a nursing home some years ago after being diagnosed with dementia.
Then, just a couple of news cycles later, we have this nut sneaking into the nursing facility to photograph Mrs. Cochran, and lo and behold, the narrative changes. Cochran gets a wave of sympathy and it may be just enough to put him over the top in the primary.
To be sure, there are plenty of loons in any movement, but this all seems a little convenient. How did this guy get into the facility in the first place? My late mother-in-law spent the last eight years of her life in a nursing home. Visitors had to be “buzzed” into the wing by on-duty staff at the nurses station. Then, you had to sign in at the nurses desk, and your name had to be on the list of approved visitors. If you weren’t, the nursing staff contacted my mother-in-law’s legal guardian and if she didn’t know who the visitor was, admission was denied.
I realize that all nursing homes have different levels of security and entry procedures, but it’s hard to imagine someone the staff had never seen before being allowed to waltz into her room and start videotaping their most “famous” resident. But they were alert enough to call the cops once the taping was discovered.
If McDaniel (or anyone with his campaign) had any connection to this incident, they will go down as the biggest idiots in the history of American politics. But how was videotaping Mrs. Cochran going to benefit McDaniel? On the other hand, how does this benefit Thad Cochran? Answer that question and you may discover who was really behind this entire, sorry episode.
Who paid this greasball to sabotage McDaniel? Someone with a lot of money to cover his arrest and eventual civil suit against him.
