Faced by a hundred angry residents calling for his resignation, a Wolfeboro police commissioner staunchly refused to apologize or resign after referring to President Obama using the n-word.
According to an article in the Boston Globe, Robert J. Copeland, 82, one of three commissioners in the small town on the shores of Lake Winnepesaukee, used the racial slur in an email to the other commissioners.
I believe I did use the N-word in reference to the current occupant of the White House, Copeland said. For this, I do not apologize he meets and exceeds my criteria for such.
Copeland was re-elected to a second three-year term two months ago.
Of the towns 6,300 year-round residents, about 20 are black. New Hampshire as a whole is 94 percent white and about 1 percent black. None of the towns police officers are black, or members of any other minority.

Any criticism of Obama is considered racist. If they’re going to hang you anyway, you might as well be guilty of something.
Just to make myself clear I have nothing against black people but I do against evil black people as well as any other color.
Inexcusable...especially in this day and age...
Nobody has identified his politics. Not one.
The town voted about 55 45 for the last Republican president. They ignore that split.
They just tout that it is an almost all white town, and therefore racist.
If a white person uses the n word he needs to lose his job?? Why do you suppose it's okay for blacks to use the n word and call whites honkies?
Reminds me of a joke card I once saw. A “teen” turkey walks into the room with his head down. The Mother turkey says, “But son, you shouldn’t get upset when someone calls you a turkey; you ARE a turkey”......
“The N-word is only ascribed when the behavior matches the skin color. Even blacks know this. “
I have a very good Black friend. We have traveled together. When he goes into any public place “like a convenience store,” he “greets” every other Black he passes with the words “Hi N-——er, how’s it goin’.” With Blacks, amongst themselves the word isn’t a pejorative term, it’s a “greeting.” I’ve seen him greet his own grown children using the term.
I agree. A person can be 'black' in skin tone and not be worthy of the N-word. Clarence Thomas comes to mind. As do many other people.
The use of that word is reserved for the lowest, most hateful miscreants the race can produce.
Look... This crap of banning words is stupid. When does it stop. Freedom of speech means”freedom of speech.” What I say in my house,or heard in a private conversion is protected. I hate when people use the F-word, but I don’t get all worked up about it. When they try to ban a word , it makes the user that much more powerful. You give the word power. That’s why calling a white man a Cracker mean nothing to us. We refuse to give the user any power over us.
“You’re white, go to hell!!!”
- Dallas County Commissioner (Black) John Wiley Price in 2011, who remains in office.
We don’t have kids...no fool here...if I have ten or twenty bucks left when I die; the cats get it. :-)
Big deal he used a word that is as popular as the “F” bomb and “MF” in black community.
If he had just called him a half cracka, there would be no problem.
I believe I did use the N-word in reference to the current occupant of the White House, Copeland said. For this, I do not apologize he meets and exceeds my criteria for such.
Proving there’s a right word for everything!

RE: Why do you suppose it’s okay for blacks to use the n word and call whites honkies?
Don’t blacks often use it as a term of endearment?
Why can’t folks from other race use it as a term of endearment?
Who sets the rules?
SEE HERE FOR INSTANCE (Jackie Chan, new to America, saw a black guy calling others the word as a term of endearment. He uses it after that and all hell breaks loose ):

What if you used it as a “greeting”? Why is that suddenly a bad thing? Who makes these rules anyway and why are we obliged to follow them?
Looks like a book I will be picking up!
