Yep....you did just that...I agreed...he could have made an advance at any time of his choosing long before things escalated.
However, I just can’t see the Right Sector handing over their power any time soon...especially outside the Government where these fights are fought.
Keiv cannot control them...so if things continue as have been with them I wouldn’t doubt if Russia and Kiev actually unite to rid them of the area, once the election is over. For they have served their purpose as the strong arms of the conflict, and the protests.
Poroshenko will udoubtedly be the next Pres. Interesting Putin can and will work with him despite the candy company being shut out of Russia.
I also agree that if Putin does act on the South-East it will be with focus and direct strategic hits. He has so many on the ground there, even long before the Protests, that he knows where everything is when the time comes for any action.

Serhy Zdryliuk, aka Abwer, the deputy commander of the self-proclaimed Donetsk People’s Republic, has asked for reinforcements to be sent from Crimea. His appeal came during his telephone conversation with Crimean journalists, Ukrinform reported May 18.
Judging by the tone of his voice, Zdryliuk was very irritated.
Earlier on May 17, in a televised address the leader of the DPR and Russia intelligence service officer Igor Strelkov complained about the low response Donbas residents show to his invitations to take up arms and fight for Donbas.

Further there’s always been Russia troops on the Border...they have bases there and travel throughout and between them.
This had nothing to do with Putin wanting to stop elections....rather he’s all about stopping the encroachment of the EU on his borders....and further the US attempts to isolate Russia from it’s relationship with Europe.
This was never about what the people wanted. It was all about control of Ukraine and division of resources FOR the advantages of outsider nations agenda’s.
Thus US now has all of Ukraines gold at the Fed and temporary control of their Governement to advance their agenda....... EU gets trade for food........Russia gets Crimea and all the oil and gas there....and most likely Eastern Ukraine’s Industrial area one way or another.
Ukraine people get austerity...higher tax’s....cuts in pensions and social programs....and If the Pres. race goes as it appears to be going...the same old Governance they’ve always had under corrupt Oligarchs.
