I know who he is. I know that he helped open up China.

At the time he did, it was an ace in the hole for us, as it played off the most populace nation on the planet, against a clear nuclear threat.

China was a closed society before that. It would take months for intel to get out. We didn’t know what was going on inside. Opening up the Bamboo Curtain was good.

It’s what took place around 1992, that took us down the road to where we are today. That was terrible policy, but it took place twenty years after Kissinger and Nixon made their move.

Twenty-two years later, and the subsequent leaders of the day, have gifted us with a serious well-financed global threat.

Kissinger opened the door. It’s those who walked through it that really jeopardized planetary safety.

And, a few years ago, they got a special, high tech gift from the Clintons...

I strongly agree with you.

The GOP has a segment which is even now, pushing ever more manufacturing and technology over to China.

That segment, is killing the party, and damaging our own nation.

We run a MASSIVE trade deficit each and every year with China.

China is on the verge, of passing America globally.

Yet there is still a segment of the GOP, which wants to send ever more manufacturing there.

Bring back American manufacturing.

Yep. We gave China most favored nation trading status. Essentially carte blanche. We did it to modernize their society and give their citizens a taste of money. I gotta wonder if that was such a fine idea. We made them a wealthy superpower who is now a major threat. We are indebted to them and have very little leverage anymore.

As for Putin, he obviously is wanting to open up trade. US & EU sanctions just make him look to another partner. He is probably negotiating about tech imports & exports. Other imports & exports too. Both countries would likely benefit from that. They are probably talking about establishing a common currency. Dumping the dollar and turning to the yuan would be a diabolical move that would hurt us and Europe greatly. So would cutting a gas deal with energy hungry China. He could easily sell all of his gas there.

A military alliance between the two would cost us greatly. Just the uncertainty that it would create would be very bad!

Sorry! Am I being pessimistic today?
