[history]
Same-sex marriage is accepted by younger conservatives and won’t likely be an issue in upcoming political races, Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker said.
Appearing Sunday on NBC's "Meet the Press," Walker was asked whether younger conservatives are “more apt to see marriage equality as something that is … what they believe, that is basic rather than as a disqualifying issue?”
“I think there’s no doubt about that,” Walker said. “But I think that’s all the more reason, when I talk about things, I talk about the economic and fiscal crises in our state and in our country, that’s what people want to resonate about. They don’t want to get focused on those issues.”
The discussion stemmed from Republican Sen. Rob Portman’s announcement last week that he has changed his position on same-sex marriage because he wants his son, who is gay, to have the same “joy and stability of marriage” that he has had and that he wishes for his other two children.
Noted Walker: “I’ve had young people ask me …why the government is sanctioning it in the first place?” He suggested it be left up to “the churches and the synagouges and others to define that.”
Republican Ana Navarro noted that “as the youngest person on this panel, I think it’s generational.” It is an issue of tolerance, she said. “I want people who are pro-traditional marriage to tolerate my views and don’t think that makes me less moral or less of a Republican. And I need to tolerate the views of those who think marriage is just a man and a woman and

It depends what you mean by “conservatives.”
Real conservatives support traditional, morally healthy families and the right to life.

That’s like saying young “conservatives” accept the communist agenda.

Bingo! Rather crazy when India elects pro-marriage candidates in a landslide while America slips into backwardness.

This could mean one of two things
(1) he truly doesn’t care (which is wrong)
(2) he doesn’t want to let it become a sideshow (might or might not be wise)
It could well be succeeding in digging its own grave, in which case it’s legitimate to ask: why interfere.

But I think thats all the more reason, when I talk about things, I talk about the economic and fiscal crises in our state and in our country, thats what people want to resonate about. They dont want to get focused on those issues. The anti-conservative liberal media, including Obama guard dog Fx News, undoubtedly has a list of issues that they know will divert the attention of conservatives from trying to stop the unconstitutionally big federal government from stealing more state powers.

It is true that homosexuality is a non-issue for young people, simply because religion and church have no impact on their life. The difference between the pro-family and the pro-life movement is that the later has succeeded in framing its arguments in secular terminology the unchurched youth can understand. The pro-family movement has been framed as a anti-gay, Bible based movement, and most post-Christian or pseudo-Christian Americans cannot relate to that.
A revival needs to come before anything can be done against the homosexual agenda.

True, but it should not stop honorable and Christian men and women from fighting it wherever this evil is found.

True, and given the way too clever statement on Scott Walker's part where he doesn't state they are wrong and/or takes a strong and continuing stand against Homo Marriage, it raises some big fat question marks where Scott Walker is concerned.

No argument there.
Needless to say, I should not have used the modifier "honorable" for Christian either.
If a man or a woman is truly a Christian, their heart has been transformed and they automatically take up the fight against sin.
There is no such thing as a dishonorable Christian, only Christians.

“Younger conservatives” include a lot of traditional Christians and members of other major world faiths that have traditional family values. So this is at best a puzzling ambiguity. It would be better to frankly say it’s wrong but he feels the best support for a conservative movement is not gotten by being a one note Johnny. That is what Ron Paul seems to be trying to say as well. However it would be very easy to outright cede the faux-marriage issue. It is a complex and difficult task. Being rooted deeply in spirituality it needs a spiritual answer.

Why can’t they just live together like so many straight couples? No, they have to demand something they probably don’t even really want or need. One gay guy I talked to said he wanted to get married for the “dignity”. I always saw marriage as protection for the family, the obligation of the father to take care of the mother and children.
