WASHINGTON Surgery patients covered by Medicaid arrive at the hospital in worse health, experience more complications, stay longer and cost more than patients with private insurance, a new study has found.
The study, by researchers at the University of Michigan, may offer a preview of what to expect as millions of uninsured people qualify for Medicaid under the Affordable Care Act.

When rewards are based on need and punishments on ability, is it not logical for people to find ways to become in need? It takes a special person to stay productive when he can mostly expect to be hated for it.
Just for the record, I don’t have health insurance because I don’t want anything to do with Obama’s wet dream of a healthcare system. I’m waiting for the next enrollment period at work.
The idea behind things like medicare/medicaid and social security is what made current administration policy popular.

Very true. Luckily many conservatives are that special kind of person.
On the other hand, we are retiring early next year, choosing to quit supporting a socialist government with our taxes. We won’t be taking from the system but won’t be giving either.
Or in the case of private insurance, quit smoking, join long term health condition management programs or lose weight to pay lower premiums or deductibles?
Precisely what I was trying to articulate on another thread, in the context of an article from a leftie which claimed that since there was always things that needed doing, there was no difficulty in creating government jobs which are not demoralizing make-work.But if your job costs your boss nothing, he will value your time accordingly. Viola! Instant demoralizing make-work. Even, in your case, when you are well-qualified, and your boss stands to directly benefit from your work.
