Phytolacca americana AKA ‘poke’ or ‘pokeweed’
I know what pokeweed looks like, it grows on the side of the road a lot but I have never eaten any of it.
Thank God for FR botanists.

It pops up in the corner of my backyard every spring and I spend hours hacking it down and then keeping a watchful eye for the deadly poke berries.
Always fear the dogs will get hold of them.
The infernal weed seems immortal.
