sheesh... no rest for the weary... what a gigantic mistake to let this guy become Speaker... so many people had their doubts about him...

It is true that as a conservative I had hoped for a home in the Republican party. It’s also true that they have done everything they can at the national level to get rid of me.
Locally, they have open arms. But these are people I know, worship with, go to ball games with. For the most part our local republicans are conservatives just like me. Nationally, they want conservatives gone. Unfortunately, the national party is saying to about 85% of their local base that they should just get lost.

It’s no secret that the result of granting amnesty to millions of illegal immigrants would be a disaster for the Republicans for years to come. I just can’t keep myself from wondering what the Dems have on Boehner that would cause him to continue giving his support. It must be pretty big.
He should understand the problems with bringing this issue up at all; if he does his base will be dispirited and many will stay home (like 2006), that the dems will be forever empowered if this legislation passes, and that the party he supposedly represents will become a genuine minority as a result.
Not to mention, the bill really won't secure the border, continuing to deepen the problem, that this administration wouldn't enforce the law if it did, that as Sarah Palin says: Coming across the border as they do is ILLEGAL FOR GOOD REASON!
I hope these stories are wrong about his willingness to bring this up, but fear they are not.
Yeah that is part of it but what is really important is it will completely wreck the nation. To me, any of these assholes who support that notion are enemies of the constitution and enemies of me and my family. I have been a steady blaster of bonehead for years and will continue to do so. Just like with the electorate that was dumb enough to vote, twice, for the Obination, anyone who voted to reelect this scoundrel should rot in hell.
Locally here (Maine), the Republicans are like the national ones - they have contempt for conservatives.

I just avoid the political scene, unless a decent candidate comes along. I did some work for a young fellow who made it into the state legislature. He tried to advance to the state senate, but was up against old age and treachery, which nearly always beats youth and enthusiasm. The part of the loacl GOP that advance candidates for national office is inbred. Cohen, McKernan, Snowe, Collins, etc. It’s a closed club.
I think the urgent push for amnesty by Boehner and the Republican left is an effort to get it off the table before Jeb starts his campaign. They know amnesty is a losing issue for the campaign, and centrist conservatives will beat their golden boy over the head with it.
Jeb cares more about illegals than he does jobless Americans, and he knows that won’t sit well with voters. If he can run on the premise that amnesty is a done deal that he didn’t have a vote for, some of the pressure is off.
Boehner’s district is one district over from mine. It is conservative. You’d think he’d do better, but he doesn’t. His district is automatic for a republican since the Civil War.
This kind of betrayal would be hard to recover from.
What it really says to me is that the brain-trust at GOP-E thinks that they can direct the thinking of the masses at the times that they want to do so.
Boehner needs to be removed from the Speaker's Chair before the end of summer. How can that be accomplished?

Sometimes it seems they have no capacity for deep thought, with few if any brains at all.
Even worse: Little if any depth of character.
If Boehner and the GOPE don't change direction on this issue, we are toast.
The issues that his conduct has raised go to the very essence of whether we can preserve the America, that all of us who have taken an oath to preserve the Constitution, are sworn to uphold. While he easily won renomination in the Primary ten days ago, he is simply no longer acceptable--indeed, an outright menace as Speaker.
I do not want to speculate whether certain things in his personal life are to blame. But his behavior, both in selling out on funding the attack on private medicine & on immigration, say all that needs to be said.
