The press has rather innocently been reporting that President Obama dispatched one of his closest aides, Deputy Chief of Staff Rob Nabors, to help and to oversee things at Veterans Affairs while officials get to the bottom of the widening scandal over VA clinic wait times that resulted in the deaths of veterans. There might be a coverup too.
From the Washington Post:
Rob Nabors, a White House deputy chief of staff, will work with the VA temporarily to help assess its practices and develop recommendations on how veterans hospitals can increase access to timely care, the White House announced Wednesday.
In a statement, Obama said he was grateful:
While we get to the bottom of what happened in Phoenix, its clear the VA needs to do more to ensure quality care for our veterans. Im grateful that Rob, one of my most trusted advisors, has agreed to work with Secretary Shinseki to help the team at this important moment.
Well isnt that helpful of him, not to mention the president. Obama is grateful. But in what respect?
Nabors, who has served in various positions, has a reputation for quiet loyalty and not leaving many fingerprints, even where he is supposed to leave fingerprints, like in his pervious job as chief White House lobbyist.
Which begs a question thats not being asked. EXACTLY WHAT ELSE will Nabors being doing over at the VA?

The list, Ping
Let me know if you would like to be on or off the ping list
I don’t see what the whole mystery is about. This is easy for me to figure out: dead veterans don’t cost as much as live ones and there’s also the fact that this administration considers veterans to be a political and physical threat to their ambitions. Marginalizing and indirectly murdering veterans serves their purposes.
It’s not like these abortion-loving people have any ethical issues with killing off inconvenient people.
If you REALLY want to clean this stuff up, Disallow any Bonus pay to any gov’t employee.
When you can’t be fired what’s the incentive to not make stuff up just to make the bonus qualifications???
“Its not like these abortion-loving people have any ethical issues with killing off inconvenient people.”
While you may well be right, my bet is that this is simply the result of a system that offers senior management bonuses to meet “unattainable goals.” The people in Phoenix who have been relieved of duty, were probably unaware that any of their patients were dying as a result of their bonus-imposed delays in providing care. Like Shinseki, they are all completely disconnected from the day-to-day operations.
They ain’t getting to the bottom of nothing.
I have worked for the VA for over 25 years. The medical care the Vets receive from the Docs and nurses is pretty damn good. The problem with the VA is the bureaucracy in Washington and from Washington down the line to the local management level.
Washington gives them unrealistic standards given the resources made available. Bonuses are “performanced based” and this puts pressure on these managers to “fake the numbers.” This is not happening at the lower management levels. No low level manager would do this of his own accord. If a low level manager, such as a chief of service i.e. chief of pharmacy, chief of medicine, chief of surgury etc., did this you can be assured that he was told to do this. If a low level manager did this it also shows a lack of professional standards. He should be fired and his superiors that made him do this should be fired. If any crossed a legal line they should be prosecuted and jailed and or fined.
In defense of the VA the actual care givers, the doctors, nurses, pharmacists, dieticians etc. really do great work. I personally know many that have given many hours of their work without compensation, as I also have. They did this because it was necessary to provide good patient care. You do not read about this in the newspapers or hear it on television. I worked many years in an anticoagulation clinic. This was very rewarding work. We worked closely with the patient managing their therapy on a one on one basis. They were grateful and this is good.
The rot in management comes from the top down. However, I must add that low and mid level managers with rare exceptions are ethical and worthy of praise. At one time I was one of those and know what it is like. It is an ugly job trying to do what should be done with limited resources. That is the reason I left management and went back to being a staff pharmacist.
My personal standard is what is called the “Grandmother Rule.” If you would not do this if it was your grandmother, it is wrong. If you would do it, it is right.
In the VA the bad guys are not those giving the hands on care it is those above them.
"I solve problems."
Which is why, I post these on my site as “Obama vs The U.S. Military”

You almost always say exactly what I’m thinking. And well said at that!
As a Veteran and as an American, I am thoroughly CONVINCED that I am On My Own from this day forward.
How I HATE these b@stards. Absolutely HATE them. Worst. President. Ever. Worst Congress. Ever. EVER!
However, with Hillary! at our future helm, I may revise that statement...
Wow, thank you for the compliment! (-;
