ANNAPOLIS - Baltimore has become the latest U.S. city planning to set curfews for teenagers to curb rising crime, with critics calling the move legal overreach.
The Baltimore City Council voted late on Monday to require children under 14 to be off the streets by 9 p.m., and those under 16 to be home by 10 p.m.
Parents can be fined $500 if their children are caught on the street after the curfew.
Democratic Mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake said she would sign the law next month, calling it a much-needed tool. The curfew would take effect in July.

It’s been ages since I’ve been to Baltimore at night — do they still have “squeegie kids”? You know, the 8-12 yr olds who ride around on their bikes all night, stopping at intersections to clean your windshield whether you agree to it or not. If you don’t pay, they start banging on your car with the stick-end of the squeegie, trying to dent and scratch the paint.
Ahhh, brings back my youthful weekends spent in Fells Point! LOL
"Do you think these guys know The Commodores?"
LaCynthya is a real name. I saw a missing person flyer at the local WalMart. Those Amish are creative with names.
Each and every parent in Baltimore should be ashamed the city even needs to pass this law....

Amen! You can go into some neighborhoods, though, at 2 AM, and see even little children outside on the sidewalk. It’s as if the parents have no common sense.
Certainly, the "Baby Daddy's" can't be bothered to control their multiple, feral offspring (which, to be fair, is hard to do from an alcohol/drug induced stupor, or prison).
Actually long-past Baltimore had curfews and truant officers as mentioned earlier. You can ask my mom. Guess which society was a lot more civil?
Omar don’t scare...
I presume the law only applies to children not accompanied by parents.
Now cry me a river. Curfews are nothing new. It was 9 PM in the town where I attended High School, and it was enforced. When the whistle blew at the mill, you had better be at least heading for home. AND if there were more than three in a group, you were split up.
All sports were done by 9 PM if later, they made exceptions for that night.
And that somehow negates the fact that it's a legal overreach?
This is how they control us. Instead of going after the real problem they treat us all like criminals. Kind of like the airport and Muslims.
Good thing we are not ‘racist’
