Malls started failing long before Zero’s attack on the economy and before Internet shopping. It started when women started feeling unsafe at the mall. I’ll leave it up to you to speculate why.

Good point; the carjacking murder at the Short Hills mall here in NJ around Christmas didn’t help (a few gibsmedats in one of their mother’s cars stealing an SUV from white people). This mall is in a very wealthy area, but the gibsmedats figured out a way to get there. Internet shopping has further reduced the already-minimal contact between makers & takers...
The Landover Mall in Maryland (right on the DC Beltway) went under because of the feral Amish youth problem.
Back in the early 80s when I was stationed in the Midwest and my wife was stationed with the Joint Staff in DC I would drive to see her at least once per month and we would spend a day wandering the few local malls. In the beginning the Landover Mall was quite nice but around 1985 we went there and the hordes of feral Amish youth made us very uneasy. They would yell and make nasty comments about my wife and since I was not armed and outnumbered 20 or 30 to one I just kept my mouth shut.
That mall does not even exist any more and all but the Sears building has be bulldozed.
