"Suddenly." Unexpectedly.
Clearing the field of opponents?

Wow. Well, rest in peace.
It will be interesting to see what their laws are, if a candidate for office has died.

Now if he had been facing a Republican the media would blame the GOP for his death, wonder if they will do the same for Aiken..either way..RIP
To: rightwingintelligentsia
He seemed to be a bit advanced in age. Poor man.

In this case, Aiken led the voting by 369 votes, and Crisco was considering asking for a run off. So I’m sure Aiken will be certified as Democrat nominee.
This is NC 2, against Renee Ellmers.

The last I have seen written about the election ...
5/07/2014 Underdog Clay Aiken, aged 35, led against Democrat primary opponent Keith Crisco, by a razor-thin 372 votes out of 28,000 cast.
So, Aiken is the winner and face the GOP incumbent, Mrs. Ellmers, in the general election.

According to published reports, Crisco suffered a fall at his home. Further details were not available.
