Nice. The bastard knew he was sick and still decided to go. Just nice.
So then. They have it in the UK and wont report on it. Typical for the HS over there.
I say we quarantine all healthcare workers. And maybe anyone that has been in a hospital in the Middle East for any reason.
Don't be ridiculous. You quarantine only against those threats that are both contagious and have a high fatality rate. That pretty much eliminates your doomsday scenario.
And your doomsday scenario isn't even close. The world economy would not grid to a halt. Shipping wouldn't grind to a halt.
And even if all international trade suddenly halted, the economies would keep ticking along. There would be some shortages, and we would learn to substitute.
Now you are going to say its reidiculous it can’t happen it has read up on the 1918 Spanish Flu Pandemic.
The 1918 flu pandemic (January 1918 December 1920) was an unusually deadly influenza pandemic, the first of the two pandemics involving H1N1 influenza virus.[1] It infected 500 million people across the world, including remote Pacific islands and the Arctic, and killed 50 to 100 million of themthree to five percent of the world’s population.
So what do you think would happen to the world economy if 10% to 20% of 7 billion people died? And H1N1 is not near as lethal as MERS which has a mortality rate of up to 60%. What do you think would happen to the healthcare system in the US if suddenly say only 1 percent of the 320 million people suddenly rush to the hospitals with such a deadly diseases?
What do you think such a pandemic would do to the economy?
Infectious diseases are truly the a case where you have to bolt the barn door before it escapes because once out its far to late then.
No, I don’t think quarantines are ridiculious. I’m in favor for something like MERS.
I was saying that the scenario Steve86 painted was ridiculous, where every threat is quarantined no matter how small. And the world economy comes to a crashing halt, never mind that we could probably get along just fine without most world trade. We’d have a lot less unemployment for one thing.
They knew he’d been exposed to this crap, but they still allowed him to fly internationally and our government welcomed him into Florida.
Thanks for the ping!
You’re Welcome, Alamo-Girl!
I’m glad it’s still a cool place. I haven’t been there since ‘98 for my 30th reunion. I remember when USF was only a few buildings and Busch was just a brewery. Lutz is probably a city now.
