The House may have voted to hold former Lois Lerner in contempt, but dont expect John Boehner to authorize the sergeant-at-arms to arrest the former IRS employee at the center of the agencys targeting of conservative groups. Instead, the speaker said the responsibility lies with the Justice Department and attorney general Eric Holder to prosecute Lerner.
Will he do it? We dont know, but the ball is in his court, Boehner told Fox News on Sunday.
When asked why Boehner didnt issue an arrest warrant himself, he said the provision has never been used before and he was not sure its an appropriate way to go about this: Im not quite sure we want to get on that path.
RE: It is Holders job to attend to this matter and prosecute. If Holder wont do it, then arrest him and his boss, and prosecute them. That is indubitably the correct approach.
I’ve always wondered... what is the purpose of holding someone in contempt? Is it simply to tell the world that “He/she has been a bad boy/girl”?
If so, then Congress is in effect, USELESS.
What I find scary is that Boner is next in line to be President should something happen to to the prez and vice-prez. Can you imagine that mess?
The IRS was being used to intimidate and to alter the outcome of an American election.
If this is not illegal, then we’ve truly lost the rule of law in this country.
If what was done to conservative groups is not investigated and prosecuted, we have no need for the ballot box.
So you would rather abandon the rule of law.......?????? Would you like the people to handle it for you John because we can.
If she is not prosecuted there is no more rule of law in this country and we might as well get it on. (((ping)))
What is the purpose of the Republican party? They are no different than Democrats.
Boehner is why we can’t have nice things.
If so, then Congress is in effect, USELESS.
It seems you have completely missed the point. If prosecution does not take place, it is HOLDER and OBAMA, and the whole EXECUTIVE branch that is USELESS.
Then it comes back to charging the chief executive with malfeasance.
The House (not all Congress) is now acting as judge. If you further invest it with law enforcement, you may get a precedent for the House to be exercised when the liberals regain control.
Is that what you want for the future?
Not me.
Well thanks for showing up everyone!
When Bohener graduated from college he was awarded an ASS degree. He since has bumped it up to the Doctorate required of anyone seeking high congressional office.
I think that's exactly where we're at.
The only people on the planet afraid of obama are the GOPe congresscreeps.
IOW: contempt was for show.
is bengazi for show too?
is the obamacare rebellion for show too?
She could dine on his liver with fava beans and a nice chianti and he wouldn’t arrest her. If someone that gutless actually has a liver.

So, let’s look at the title of this thread again -— It says:
Boehner: House Wont Arrest Lois Lerner
That means the house won’t arrest Lerner because THEY CAN’T ( i.e., they are not given the constitutional power to do so )?
Then the title should be changed to: Boehner: House CAN’T Arrest Lois Lerner.
In effect, what we have is a house that can hold someone in contempt but can’t do a damn thing about it unless the executive branch acts.
So, what’s left to do?
I guess impeachment should be the next and only option left.
When the scandal first broke, Boehner himself was the one asking “I want to know who’s going to jail”? Well...
Hence the standoff in Nevada, Utah and perhaps North Texas.
Folks are just plain FED-up
Ok I hope the IRS targets you and your family ahole
Have you ever heard of ‘red meat’ for the voters? The Benghazi hearings will be the same. Regardless of what revelations come from it nothing will be done.
